Sam’s Club Mattress Buying Guide

Nothing helps you unwind from a tiresome day than an immersive sleep. The moment you finally lay on your bed should be bliss, but only if you have the right mattress. This is why your choice of mattress isn’t made lightly.

However, choosing the right mattress can be hard with all the options available. While one mattress might make you feel like you are sleeping in the clouds, it might cause someone else discomfort.

Here at Sam’s Club, we aim at helping you find the mattress set of your dreams.

Here is what will make your shopping experience with us different from elsewhere:

Your Comfort Is Our Priority

We understand that everyone who shops with us has a different situation. You might prefer a mattress that will help alleviate your back pain or improve your sleeping patterns. Alternatively, you might also need to enjoy better sleep with your partner in the space that only a king-sized mattress provides.

When working with us, you will get to choose your mattress depending on how you want the pressure points on the mattress. You can even pick a mattress with an adjustable base to increase your comfort level. We will not stop until you find a mattress set that you are comfortable with.

Brands of Mattresses at Sam’s Club

We know that each customer who shops with us has their perceptions of the different brands. While most brands might have some similarity in their mattress types, it is your perspective that counts.

Like a brand, why not buy their mattress sets? You can get to choose from a lot of brands in our stores. Our brands include:

The goal is to find a brand which resonates with you. If choosing between these brands seems tough, you can always rely on our customer service to help you out.

Find the Right Mattress Type

In some cases, you might need a specific type of mattress to help you deal with a certain condition. For instance, the mattress you use can determine whether you will experience some back pains or not. On the other hand, having a condition such as sleep apnea will need you to choose the right mattress sets, including one that helps you sleep comfortably on your side or back.

We provide mattress types to cater for both sleep conditions and different comfort levels. We handpick these mattress choices to ensure that you can only get the best for your needs. You can choose from a diversity of mattress choices, which include:

Memory foam mattresses

Memory foam mattresses are perfect for the folks that look for comfort and support. They conform to your body to give you the support that you need and also work well with a box spring. We supply mattresses that have layers of foam that eliminate the need for flipping your mattress over regularly. Visit Sam’s Club for memory foam mattresses like Serta and Zinus, similar to Casper and other popular brands.

A gel memory foam mattress as the name suggests has gel added to the foam mattress giving it a unique feel and at the same time evenly distributing your body heat. This would make the best companion during the cold season.

Pillow top mattresses

These mattresses make a good substitute for the gel and memory foam mattresses. If you love some extra comfort, this would be an excellent choice for you as an extra layer of upholstery is added to your mattress for a comfy and cushiony feel.

Popularly known as coil mattresses have internal metal springs. If you are a side or tummy sleeper, then this would be an excellent pick. The distribution and number of coils will determine the level of comfort that you will get.

Latex foam is used in the place of memory foam for this mattress. If you are looking for a firm mattress, this would be the direction to look. It comes with different levels of firmness, and unlike the memory foam mattress, it is made of natural materials.

If you are a side sleeper, you will find this mattress more comfortable. It has soft fabric and will still give you the support you need as you sleep. Get yourself the plush mattress and you will be relieved of painful shoulders in the morning.

This is yet another mattress that will favor the stomach and back sleepers who love a solid feel. Not too firm and not too soft — in the Goldilocks zone. The name of this type of mattress can be attributed to the fact that it is a combination of innerspring coil and memory foam.

Adjustable base mattress

The level of comfort and support is not limited when it comes to the adjustable base mattress sets. They are perfect for pressure relief and support just when you need it. You have the freedom to elevate your head, raise your feet, and adjust the back support. We supply the Simmons Beautyrest adjustable base mattresses that will provide you with the best night sleep.

Airbeds are popular thanks to their customizable support, hypoallergenic covers, and breathability. Many adjustable air mattresses have separate air chambers under your head, back and feet. These allow you to adjust the support your body needs at every point individually. Many also have cooling gel and memory foam layers to add to enhance their comfort levels even more.

Some Questions to Ask Before Buying A New Mattress

  • Will you need a box spring?
  • How many people will the bed need to fit?
  • Do you want a mattress set with a foundation and headboard?
  • Do I have specific pain? (i.e. back, knee, neck)
  • Do I need an adjustable mattress?
  • How long is the mattress warranty?
  • Am I concerned about movement disturbing my partner?
  • How is the temperature regulation of the mattress?

Mattress Sizes and Dimensions

You need to have the dimensions of your bed to pick a mattress that will fit. Sam’s Club offers you a wide range of options when it comes to the size of mattresses. We have mattresses in common sizes. They have different dimensions; for instance, the California king is longer and has less surface area than the king size mattress.

You do not want to end up with a mattress that is either too soft or keeps you tossing the entire night. Get a mattress that takes care of all your pressure points that is your head, your back, the heel and shoulders to mention a few. The type of mattress you get will determine the thickness.

The brand of the manufacturer and distributor of mattresses and mattress sets need to be put into consideration too. Sam’s Club will supply you with mattress sets from reputable brands like Serta who give the customers a night sleep trial to ensure that you are comfortable with the mattress you pick.

Made to Fit Your Bed

Say goodbye to new mattresses that barely fit your bed frame or those that hang out of your bed. Regardless of whether you have a king-sized or a platform bed, we have the right mattress for you.

Our crew will get you a high-quality mattress that can fit right into the foundation of your bed. Preach the idea of your perfect mattress, and we will find it.

Even better, you will enjoy a better experience from the customer service team as a member. This will include members-only prices that will land you the best mattresses easily. Additionally, you will gain access to limited purchase options.

How Much Does a Good Mattress Cost?

You can get a mattress for as little as $100, but would you really want to sleep on that? On the other hand, you don’t need to spend 6 figures, either. The price of a mattress depends on many things, including the type of mattress and the materials used to construct it. Usually, you can get a great bed for less than $1500.

Mattress Types

The first thing to decide is what type of bed you’re looking for. You may want to lay on a few to see what you like. You should also consider other factors when you’re choosing the type of bed you want. Look at the table below. Figure out what factors are important to you, and see if any one type of bed stands out.

InnerspringGoodVery goodVery goodVery good7 years
HybridVery goodGoodVery goodFair9 years

These mattresses are made of high-density foam that conforms to your body as you sleep. They are supportive and comfortable, but they can hold heat so sleepers end up hot in the night. Some foam mattresses are made entirely of one kind of foam, while others have layers of different types. Memory foam and polyfoam are the most common materials for mattresses in this category.

These are similar to foam mattresses except that they use a latex foam instead of polyurethane or memory foams. These don’t hold heat like foam mattresses, but some people find them less comfortable. They are made from natural latex, synthetic latex, or a combination of the two. You can even get certified organic latex if you really want it.

Innerspring mattresses are your traditional coil mattresses. You can choose mattresses by the number of coils, whether the coils are in individual pockets, and the quality of padding between the coils and the sleeper. The padding is made up of layers of different materials designed to make the mattress softer and firmer, depending on sleeper preference.

Hybrid mattresses combine coils with foam or latex. The coils form one layer of the mattress, with the foam or latex layers on top. In hybrid mattresses, the coils are in individual pockets with foam or latex between the pockets. Some hybrid mattresses feature multiple layers of smaller coils and foam or latex, too. These beds are designed to be the best of both worlds.

Average Mattress Costs

Different mattress types have different price ranges. If you are concerned about how much your bed will cost, check out the table below and choose a bed type that tends to be less expensive. Note that the price range is for all bed sizes. In general, the average cost is for a Queen size bed.

What Factors Influence the Price of a Mattress?

Each type of mattress has different factors that influence how much it costs. In general, these focus on the type and quality of material used in the mattress. However, this plays out differently for each mattress type.

Foam Mattress Cost Considerations

When it comes to foam mattresses, cost often comes down to the density of the foam used in the mattress. In general, higher density foam is better. However, you can get foam that is so dense it ceases to be comfortable or supportive. For most people, ideal foam density is between 5.3 and 6.2 pounds.

Less dense foam is cheaper because it degrades faster and it stops returning to its original shape. This means that it is becoming less supportive and won’t last as long. Unfortunately, in the cheapest beds, this can even happen in a matter of a few months. You may pay less up front, but you’ll have to buy a new bed sooner, too.

Sometimes, you can find a foam bed with a layer of less dense foam on top of a layer of higher density foam. This can be the best of both worlds: you get the pressure-point relief of lower density foam with the support of higher density foam, for a price that’s somewhere in between.

Some specialty foams – like the copper-infused memory foam shown here – are more expensive.

Specialty foams, like those infused with copper or gel, will also be more expensive. Manufacturers claim that these additives make beds cooler, more comfortable, or both.

Polyfoam is different from memory foam, and it is less expensive, too. You may want to try a polyfoam bed before you buy it, though, or at least get a bed with a good return policy. Some people don’t notice much of a difference between the foams, while others don’t like the polyfoam nearly as much as the memory foam.

Latex Mattress Cost Considerations

The cost of a latex mattress depends a lot on the type of latex used. There are two processes that produce latex: the Dunlop process and the Talalay process. In general, Dunlop latex is denser while Talalay is softer. Talalay tends to be more expensive than Dunlop, though it’s also often described as more comfortable. The best deal may be a mattress that contains both, combining the supportive qualities of Dunlop with the pressure-point relief of Talalay.

Latex foam is created in one of two ways, the Dunlop or Talalay process.

If you want natural latex in your mattress, you will pay more than if you’re willing to have the synthetic version. Mattresses marked “100% natural latex” will be the most expensive, but that latex is tested to make sure it is, in fact, all natural. Some people complain about allergies to natural latex, but others like the fact their bed is all natural.

All-natural, organic latex mattresses cost even more. Just as organic food costs more because it requires different materials to grow the plants and be certified as organic, all-natural, organic latex beds are more expensive, too. If going organic is important to you, you can find these mattresses…you’ll just have to pay more for them.

Innerspring Mattress Cost Considerations

Traditionally, the quality of an innerspring mattress has been measured by its coil count. More coils made it more comfortable and, usually, more expensive. However, a high coil count does not guarantee comfort, though it almost always makes the bed cost more.

If possible, find out the gauge of the coils in an innerspring mattress you’re considering. Higher gauged coils are made out of thinner metal and won’t last as long, but they are less expensive. Lower gauged coils will last a long time, but they’ll cost you more.

Coil TypeCoil ShapeCoil GaugePrice
BonnellRounded hourglassAnywhere from low to high$
ContinuousStraight lineMedium to high$
OffsetHourglass with straight endsLow to medium$$
PocketedSpiraled and encasedHigh$$$

The composition of the comfort layer will also affect innerspring mattress pricing. That is the layer between you and the coils since you don’t want to lay directly on them. If this is made out of high-quality foam or latex, the bed will be more expensive. If it’s more like the layer on a traditional mattress, the bed won’t cost as much.

Finally, coils that are placed in individual pockets inside the mattress will cost more than coils that are next to each other with nothing in between. Placing all of that material in there to form the pockets cost something, and manufacturers will pass that cost on to you.

Hybrid Mattress Cost Considerations

First, make sure any hybrid mattress you’re buying is actually a hybrid. Technically, these mattresses need to have at least 2 inches of latex or memory foam in the comfort layer AND in a support core for pocketed coils. A mattress that uses a polyfoam support core does not count as a hybrid bed. Neither does a bed made out of multiple types of foam, without coils.

Some hybrid mattresses feature microcoils as a transitional layer in addition to the pocketed coils in the support core. These usually make the bed more expensive because of the support they add, though, whether they add to the comfort depends on the individual sleeper.

As this cross-section shows, a hybrid mattress uses a coil support base with layers of foam on top.

Beyond that, the price of hybrid mattresses is determined by a combination of the factors mentioned for foam and/or latex and innerspring beds. Higher density foam will be more expensive, as will lower gauge coils. All-natural latex will cost more, while synthetic will be less of an investment.

How to Get the Best Deal on Your Mattress

No matter how much or how little you spend, a mattress is a major investment. You want to spend your money well, but it never hurts to get a really good deal. Here are some ways to get the best price possible on your mattress.

Buy Online

Online-only mattress stores are becoming more and more popular, for good reason. These beds tend to be cheaper than what you can buy in the store, simply because these sellers don’t have to worry about the cost of a showroom. Many of these mattresses are high quality and score well when it comes to comfort and support, too.

Wait for a Deal

Get a further discount by waiting for a good deal. Cyber Monday, Amazon Prime day (if your mattress is available on Prime), Black Friday, Labor Day and more are all days where discounts are common. If you really need to score a good price to be able to buy the mattress you want, one of these days may offer the deal you need.

Get a Referral Deal

Many online mattress companies offer special deals if you buy through someone who refers you to them. They have deals worked out with bloggers and other people who have an online presence. When you buy through these folks, you can get a few extra dollars off your mattress.

It’s always worthwhile to ask if you can get a better deal. Most online mattress retailers have a number you can call. So call it and tell them you really like their bed but you can’t afford it. Gush if you need to, and offer proof of your financial situation. Many times, they can direct you to a coupon or help you find another way to save on your new mattress.

A mattress is an investment, but it doesn’t have to break the bank. If you need a new bed, it should be possible to get what you need without having to put yourself under financial stress. As a last resort, many mattress companies will allow you to make payments on your bed, though you will end up paying more than the retail price by the time you’re done.

In the end, your investment will be worth your while. When you have a bed that is comfortable and supports you well, you should sleep better. And good sleep is worth more than any price tag!

Need to get rid of an old mattress? BOOK A PICKUP ❯

How Much Does It Cost for Mattress Removal?

Each mattress removal service charges adifferent pricefor their mattress pickup services. On the Internet, I’ve seen prices for mattress removal ranginganywhere from $30 to $625. That’s because mattress removal cost depends on a lot of different factors.

Using a mattress removal service could cost slightly more than if you were to dispose of your mattress yourself. Professional mattress haulers have to charge for their services because in order for the hauler to responsibly dispose of your mattress or box spring, they have tocover the disposal feesthey are charged by the disposal facility.

A professional mattress removal company also has to cover their overhead costs such aslicensing and background checksof their employees, as well as insurance policies and proper equipment to ensure you are protected from any accidental damage.

For these reasons, you really ought to use a professional hauling company instead of using some guy you found on Craigslist or TaskRabbit. However, there are other things you can consider to help you make sure you’re getting the most budget-friendly mattress removal service possible.

Mattress Disposal Methods

Most mattress removers would much rather just dump everything at the closest landfill once they load up their truck instead of taking the time todonate or recycleitems that can be kept out of the dump.

It’s important to find a mattress removal service that useseco-friendly disposal methodssuch as donation and recycling, in addition to the responsible disposal of items that can’t be saved.

Mattress pickup services have to pay any disposal fees when they dispose of the items they pick up in a landfill. When they mostly donate or recycle the mattresses instead, these haulers are able topass those savings along to their customersby charging lower prices.

Mattress Removal Wait Time

Many mattress removal services advertisesame-day service, but this can be misleading since it doesn’t mean same-day pickup. It can be many days after calling a mattress hauler before your mattress is actually picked up.

This is because you have to book an appointment with the mattress disposal service for them to send someone out andgive you a price estimate. Then you must schedule a separate appointment for your mattress to be picked up.

The problem with this method is that you have to be around for both appointments. Unless you have a lot of free time and paid time off, you’llhave to take time off from workor cancel personal appointments so you can be there.

I don’t know about you, but I certainly can’t afford to take 2 days off just to have a junk removal salesman come and give me an estimate, only tocharge me morewhen they pick up my old mattress. Time is money, so keep pickup wait time in mind as a cost consideration.

Mattress Hauler Insurance

Insurance is another cost consideration that can make a difference but one you may not have thought about. Any mattress removal service you use should befully insuredwith at least a $100,000 policy.

Though we wish they wouldn’t, accidents can and do happen sometimes. Especially when heavy, bulky items like a mattress or box spring are being hefted around. Make sure that the mattress removal service you choose cancover any property damagethat might occur during the process of picking up your mattress.

Although it’s likely not something you should worry about, there will always be a chance something will go wrong,no matter how carefulthe mattress removal service is. Making sure they’re fully insured will save you a lot of money and stress in the event of an accident.

Mattress Removal Pricing

Most mattress removal services base their pricing structure on thevolume of the itemsthey are picking up. This tactic makes it easier for the person picking up your mattress toincrease the priceonce your mattress and other items are loaded onto the truck.

When a mattress removal company bases their prices on volume but youonly have 1 or 2 things you need to have picked up, like a mattress or bed frame, this makes it very costly and inefficient for the customer.

How Much is a Used Mattress and Box Spring Worth?

How much is a Slightly Used King, Queen, Full, or Twin size Mattress Set Worth

First, have you ever wondered about the value of various house hold items like that baseball card collection you’ve had boxed and stored for years? Perhaps grandpa’s old watch that old heirloom piece of furniture that has been handed down the last couple generations? While it wouldn’t be a surprise to see many of these kink of items show up on PBS’s Antique Road show because they can actually have some real value, I am pretty sure there is one item you won’t find on there, your old mattress set. Surely it’s worth something though; I mean you probably paid hundreds maybe even a couple thousand dollars or more. It has to have some value right? Well unfortunately most items on the Antique Road have nothing more than sentimental value and the fact is most of these items simply aren’t worth very much. They valuable items are often quite special, soWhat makes them special and so valuable while other items are essentially worthless?

Value Criteria:

  • Rarity
  • Aesthetics
  • Age
  • Desirability
  • Authenticity
  • Really great condition

So, how do we determine if a car, a piece of furniture, or a mattress set is worth something? Applly the value criteria. The fact is whether your selling or buying a used mattress and boxspring you’ll find they just don’t meet the value criteria and frankly aren’t worth much if anything.

How much to ask for an old used mattress?

  1. Used mattresses are not highly desirable, so the asking price matters. You do not want to scare off potential buyers with unrealistic figures. This number is not likely to be your bottom dollar or selling price. People always want to hagle and it is recommended to leave some wiggle room for negotiations. Careful to walk a fine line of not to cheap and not to expensive because you don’t want to scare off potential mattress buyers.
  2. Take into consideration the age of the mattress, useful life is normally around 8 years.
  3. Rarity is hardly an issue with old mattresses their like a face everyone has one.
  4. Desirability can be tricky h owever if you have a mattress that is harder to find may get more in the used market place. Items can include specialty mattresses like latex mattresses, the Sleep Number Bed, or an Authentic Tempur Pedic Memory Foam Mattress even an organic mattress. These items you will most certainly get a little more since it is so much harder to find gently used items like these.. You’ll definitely get more money for these items than the run of the mill used Sealy, Serta, or Simmons mattress set. After all most of brand name mattresses can be found on any given curb on trash day.

Old bed value is subjective to the seller and the buyer.

What should I value a king mattress set thats 30 years old?

Debie, Being honest, pretty much worthless to the majority of people. The typical age a mattress is considered worn is 8 years give or take a year or 2 these days. While the old ones were built much better, a 30 year old mattress also has 30 years of accumulated dust-mites, body oils, perspiration etc. No matter how clean it may look or “we think it is”.
Give it away or dispose of it is my recommendation. Doug

I have a used twin mattress. Three years old with the original plastic.

Dedra, Post it on Facebook, Craig’s List,

How much do you think I should sell my king size mattress, two twin box springs, and rails for, as a 3 yr owner? The items are still in “good” condition and only used them for three months (slept on it). The stuff just sits in my back room. Just a rough estimate please and thank you!
-Tessa ♡

As much as you can LOL. Just remember selling mattresses is kind of like selling used socks, most people aren’t going to have much interest in them. Secondly if you price it to high it WILL continue to sit your back room 😉 Truthfully, I have no idea. We do not sell used beds. If I can give you one piece of advise you do need to establish what was originally paid for the mattress set so people know how much it WAS valued at when it brand new. Also if it was an average to high quality set the normal expected comfort life is somewhere between 5-8 years. Click here to learn more about how long a mattress set should last. I have a brand new barely used queen mattress and box spring how much should I sell it for ?

Nicole, We do not sell used mattresses so I do not know what the going rate would be. I do know that there are several things to factor into your decision. What kind of shape is it in? Does it smell? Cigarette smoke, pets, age etc. Is it broke down or does it squeak? What did cost new? These are just some of the things to consider. Remember this is a used bed and for many people these have about as much appeal as used socks or undergarments and most simply would not even consider purchasing a mattress that has been slept in before why some simply don’t care or don’t find it to be an issue. Doug

Okay question…
I have (i think its called a bundle bed) twin size where one bed lowers under the other. it was my grandmas for their guess room and no one used it. original they thought they need boxsprings for it as well (which obviously don’t because then its to big to slide under) but my question is, which is on my best interest
A. Sell Trundle bed with mattresses and sell 2 twin box springs separately? or
B. Just sell both mattress and both box springs and sell trundle frame seperately?
thanks so much

hey sorry just left you a message the trundle bed if that what its even called, if its not would you let me know the actual name and i have pictures if you need incase you don’t know what i am talking about. thank you so much again.

Ash, If your goal is to get rid of everything? Probably half a dozen one six of the other, but if it were me… A. Sell Trundle bed with mattresses and sell 2 twin box springs separately? Doug

How much do you think we should ask for a Sweet Mornings LatexGel King size mattress, list price $3,800
purchased on 19 Sep 2008 and normally comes with a 20-year warranty. Most of the mattresses life is
still still ahead. We love it but due to health reasons need to revert to two twin mattresses of the same
quality. It does have a very small tear in one corner where it got caught during handling but not a problem.
It’s immaculately clean and from a spotless home.

Reginald, Used mattresses typically have little value. Even expensive mattresses wear out and lose their support. Take expensive under garments they are rarely sought after, wanted or desired by the majority. Used mattresses are no different and have that same ick stigma attached to them for most of mattress shopping people out there. With that said, the buyer for a used mattress is small to begin with so in the end you are looking for that unique individual that thinks a 8 year old 3800.00 mattress has value to it.
Lastly in response to the 20 warranty, as you or anyone else on the internet can research, mattress warranty is not an indicator of how long a mattress will last or be comfortable. It is also not transferable in most cases. Usable comfort life for a good mattress is approximately 6-10 years at best. Great question. I wish you lots of luck and hope you get as much as you possibly can. Doug

Austin, See what that exact item goes for new. Understand you probably will get very very little in comparison. It is a trial and error thing. You will likely have to lower your price and you may not be able to sell it. Doug

I have had my water bed tube bed since 1985. I finally had a tube leaking (8tubes) So I purchase new one for my Soma but guess what they started to leak after two year and make me sick. I thought out the complete bed. I am chemical sensitive so will have to find and old bed. I am also allergic to boric acid. LIve in Sacramento area. Any suggestion.

Jerry, Purchasing a used mattress does not necessarily keep a person from being exposed to said chemical. Instead of being concerned about off gassing you should also be concerned about off dusting. (the wearing down or disintegration of foams, fibers, and fabrics) When this happens particulates go airborne and can be ingested, absorbed, and inhaled. My suggestion look at a new or and old mattress you are certain is pure. Purity can be verified through third party documentation like certifications. Those certificates prove that what is in question is what they say it is. Certified organic. Make sure such documentation is up to date. Savvyrest is the line of mattresses we offer that do just that. Hoping this gets you in the right direction. Feel free to reach out to me to learn more. Doug Belleville Manager

I am from Iowa city. I want to sell a 9-month-old used mattress. where should I sell it ??
I had posted on facebook and craigslist and offer up as well.. But no luck.
It is Simmons Beauty Sleep Plush Queen Mattress with Box Spring. It is a Well-maintained and clean mattress (used only for 09 months). Need your help and suggestion.
Looking forward to your reply,

Aastha, No one is going to get rich selling a used bed. I often correlate it to selling used socks. Try try try again. You nearly have to spam the websites with your listing. Know that if you do you are likely to get banned. You need to change up your content on each post making it unique and different. You may have to drop your price. There is not a large market for used beds. You could also look at donating it. Hope this helps. Doug

We have a $1400 twin mattress bought about 16 months ago for our guest room. We’ve had 3 guests and know want to turn the room into an office. It has had a protective mattress cover from the beginning, and will also include box spring and frame. What do you suggest asking for it?
Thank you

Hi my name is Joey Baldwin and I am wanting to sell my Queen size headrest, footrest, and (2) headpost and i only had it for 1year nothing is really wrong with it im wanting to get another queen size bed. I forgot to tell you that my headrest, footrest, and my (2) headpost are made out of wood. I just want to know how much would these items are worth so I can sell them.

The spelling on the original post and some of the comments is atrocious. That said, the information is helpful.

Jean, Thank you for your feedback. I’ll admit that I am a much better mattress salesman and business owner than writer and blogger. I am happy that you hung in there and was able to take advantage of my 32 plus years of industry experience. I try… Take care Doug

Hi….I’m sorry to influx you with more questions but….

Never slept on, 2 yr old mattress w/ back support euro top…..king size….

I don’t know how to price it out for a yard sale?

Suggestion? Thank you so much.

Susan, I am sorry. I wouldn’t have clue since we only sell new ones. Shop current rates that used mattresses are going for and price accordingly. Doug

I had a California king & box springs that was bought in2014 slept on it for about
6 months which I then had to store at a storage site with all of my other household items when I went to move all of my things rats had gotten in & ruined my mattress & box springs with their feces I did have insurance on my unit to include vermin.
the insurance company wants me to provide them with the initial cost with depreciation can you possibly tell me how you would calculate the depreciation of such item ?

Mr. Bellville I had a Beauty Rest California king mattress & box springs to which I had to store at a storage facility the mattress & box springs were damaged while in storage by rats with their feces I did have insurance coverage on my unit . the insurance company wants the price when purchased & the depreciation of the set was bought in early 2015 & is in excellent condition due to that I only slept on it for about 9 months before I had to store it , could you please help me with the depreciation calculation. Had to throw away due to the damage . I hope that you will be able to help me . thank you , Joleane

Hi Joleane, I have not been a Simmons Beautyrest Dealer for many years now. My suggestion is if possible is to find your (Proof of purchase) old receipt, cancelled check, or credit card statement that supports the price you paid at that time. I wouldn’t have a clue to figure out depreciation as there are no books to determine that like NADA or Edmunds in the the automobile industry. Insurance companies are looking out for their best interest. You need to look out for yours and hold your ground. Mattresses have mostly gone to 1 sided designs. I am not sure if yours is one or 2 sided? If 2 sided, Simmons isn’t even making those anymore. These are much more desirable and cost more if you can even find them these days. Hope all goes well. Feel free to call me if you like. Doug

Great idea of this type of article! Can you just let me know the best resource for donating used mattress

Sorry, I am not familiar with all of the different local markets. Start with churches and other charitable organizations. Craigslist also has a free ad section. Thank you Doug
