Off-gassing

Most new products emit chemical smells after being removed from packaging. Off-gassing odors are considered non-toxic, but can be quite unpleasant nonetheless.

Off-gassing odors have been reported for newer Nectar mattresses, but these smells tend to dissipate within a few days.

Temperature Neutrality

The temperature of a mattress throughout the night is affected by how much body heat is retained. Several factors affect temperature neutrality, including material composition, layer thickness, and dissipation of heat through airflow.

The Nectar mattress sleeps somewhat warm, but the lyocell cover and gel memory foam offer more breathability than many competing memory foam models

Edge Support

The degree to which the perimeter of the mattress supports body weight. In some cases, mattresses may sink when weight is applied. This sinkage, often called “roll-off”, affects how closely you might sleep to the edge of the bed.

The Nectar mattress offers better edge support than most all-foam mattresses at this price range due to its dense foam layers, though some owners have reported sinkage after less than one year of use.

Noise

Certain mattresses – particularly those with coils – can be quite noisy when bearing weight. Others are nearly silent. Material composition is often the limiting factor for noise potential.

Mattresses that are bouncier and more responsive tend to be better for sex, as they’re easier to change positions on. In contrast, unresponsive mattresses can cause couples to have trouble switching positions.

The Nectar mattress has some bounce, but — like many memory foam models — it may not be responsive enough for most couples.

How Is the Nectar Mattress Constructed?

Cover

The Nectar Mattress has a cover made from a blend of TENCEL™ lyocell and cotton. Both of these materials are fairly breathable. The cover is also removable and machine-washable for easier cleaning.

Comfort Layers

The mattress has two comfort layers. The 1-inch top layer is made of quilted gel memory foam with a density of 4 PCF, and the 3-inch secondary layer is made of 3.5 PCF gel memory foam. These layers conform very closely to the body without sinking too deeply. The result is a noticeable body hug that can alleviate aches and pains, prevent pressure points from building, and improve spinal alignment for side sleepers.

The foam also distributes weight evenly and consistently, making the bed especially well-suited for heavier sleepers.

Transitional Layer

The mattress has a transitional layer of high-density memory foam that measures 1.75 inches. Most competing memory foam mattresses have transitional layers made of polyfoam. The Nectar’s added memory foam component enhances the body-hug sensation of its comfort layers without sagging too much.

Support Layers

The Nectar Mattress has a support core of 2.2 PCF high-density polyfoam measuring 5.25 inches thick. Along with the transitional layer, the polyfoam base provides a firm base for the softer comfort layers. The result is a balanced, medium-firm feel that conforms closely without compromising overall support.

Mattress Height

The mattress measures 11 inches thick. This is slightly thicker than the average mattress, making it a good option for people who struggle getting on and off shorter beds, but the Nectar is still considered a medium-profile mattress.

What Are the Firmness and Feel Like?

The Nectar Mattress is an ideal option for sleepers who enjoy surfaces with deep contouring and cradling. This is largely due to the bed’s thick, four-layer design that includes memory foam comfort and transitional layers. Most sleepers settle into the mattress for a noticeable body-hugging sensation. This can alleviate discomfort for those with chronic pain, and prevent new aches and pains from forming.

Nectar Sleep advertises the mattress as “plush but highly supportive,” rating it as a 6 on the 1-10 firmness scale. Our testers agree with this assessment. This setting is optimal for many side, back, and stomach sleepers weighing 130 pounds or more. The mattress may be too firm for some lightweight sleepers, and as a result, they may not experience the same pressure relief as heavier individuals.

Ratings Breakdown

Performance Ratings

Next, let’s take a closer look at our performance ratings for the Nectar Mattress. These ratings are based on findings from our internal and external testing teams, as well as verified owner and customer experiences with the mattress.

Durability

Nectar Sleep has been in business since 2016. Due to how new the company is, we’re basing our durability ratings off of the materials used in the bed, quality of construction, and owner experience data over time.

Given the use of dense, high-quality foams and solid construction, we expect the bed to be quite durable based on the average mattress lifespan of 7-8 years. While we recommend the Nectar for average to heavyweight sleepers, there is always the possibility of body impressions over time, so we recommend rotating the mattress regularly. Lightweight sleepers are far less likely to notice any body impressions over the lifetime of the mattress.

Motion Isolation

The Nectar mattress performed very well in our motion isolation tests. Both our internal testing team and our overnight sleep testers found they couldn’t feel any partner movement throughout the night. This is expected of memory foam mattresses with slower response foams, so our findings are on par with initial expectations.

Given that, we believe the Nectar is a great option for sleepers who are easily disturbed by movements on the bed’s surface.

Off-Gassing

We found that the Nectar had a distinct odor for a few days after unpacking, but eventually dissipated and wasn’t an issue after the initial few days. This is quite normal for a memory foam bed, but customers should keep this in mind when purchasing a Nectar mattress.

For a bit more explanation, off-gassing often occurs with newer mattresses because unpacking them releases volatile organic compounds (VOCs) into the air. VOCs are relatively harmless but they carry a distinct odor that many liken to plastic or rubber.

Pressure Relief

Body conforming is a key strength of the Nectar Mattress. Our testing found that the two memory foam comfort layers absorb and cradle the body, conforming evenly to different areas and evenly distributing weight across the surface.

Our testers noted that the experience of sleeping on a Nectar is more like sleeping “in” versus “on” a bed, especially for heavier individuals. Those who enjoy that sensation will find the Nectar Mattress comfortable and supportive. On the other hand, people who prefer sleeping on – not in – a mattress may not be as satisfied with the bed.

Temperature Neutrality

Our in-house and external testing found that the Nectar mattress traps some heat throughout a night of sleep. In general, low- and medium-density memory foam layers sleep a bit cooler than higher-density memory foam. Nectar has both medium- and low-density foams in its comfort layers, making it a slightly cooler option than other memory foam competitors on the market.

The Nectar does use more breathable materials in its cover, TENCEL™ lyocell and cotton. These fabrics offer better breathability than other common cover materials, such as polyester or rayon.

Ultimately the Nectar performed better with temperature neutrality than a lot of all-foam beds out there, but customers should be aware that it does have the potential to sleep a bit warm throughout the night.

Edge Support

The Nectar mattress performed as we expected in our edge support testing. Like other all-foam mattresses, we found significant sinkage when sitting on or sleeping close to the edge. But when compared to similarly constructed mattresses, it did perform a bit better than average, which gave the mattress a slight leg up in our rating for this criteria.

Noise

The Nectar is silent. This is a common trait of all-foam mattresses. Noise from a mattress is usually associated with a coil system in the support core or comfort layers. Since the Nectar features an all-foam design, we found absolutely no noise issues with the bed. Coupled with superior motion isolation, the lack of noise makes the Nectar a great option for sleepers who are easily disturbed during the night.

The Nectar Mattress, like many competing memory foam beds, responds slowly and doesn’t have the bounce that is usually associated with innerspring and hybrid beds. Some sleepers find this sinkage makes switching positions difficult, which can make sex more challenging. That said, with deeper sinkage comes more traction, so if changing positions isn’t as important to you, the mattress can offer this as a benefit.

The Nectar’s construction makes it produce no noise and hence very discreet during sex. Better-than-average edge support also ensures couples can take advantage of the full surface of the mattress.

Sleeper Ratings

Now, let’s discuss our sleeper ratings for the Nectar Mattress.

The ideal firmness and thickness settings for a mattress largely depend on a sleeper’s body weight, shape, and preferred sleep position. In order to better inform our readers and avoid subjectivity in our review, the Tuck team evaluated the bed with sleep testers of varying body types and position preferences.

Lightweight Sleepers – Less than 130 lbs.

Our lightweight testers found the Nectar was fairly firm. While the mattress offered good overall support, these testers did not experience the same deep body-cradling and pressure relief as our heavier testers. Instead, lighter weight folks might find the Nectar has a floating feel, owing to its medium-firm build.

Lightweight sleepers typically prefer soft to medium-soft beds because they hug the body closely to alleviate aches and pains. That being said, our testers agreed that people weighing less than 130 pounds who prefer firmer beds will likely find the Nectar comfortable.

Average Weight Sleepers – 130 to 230 lbs.

Our average weight testers found the Nectar very supportive. They experienced consistent body-cradling and pressure relief with little to no sagging. This was true across all sleep positions.

Sleepers who weigh 130 to 230 pounds tend to prefer medium to medium-firm mattresses because they offer a balance of cushioning and support. Our testers’ findings for the Nectar were consistent with this general trend.

Heavyweight Sleepers – More than 230 lbs.

Our heavyweight testers also found the Nectar very supportive. They noted some sagging associated with the body-hugging feel of memory foam, but the transitional and base foam layers provided strong reinforcement for the bed.

Most heavyweight sleepers tend to prefer beds with medium-firm to firm settings. Softer surfaces often sag too much on the surface, resulting in uneven support, and the beds are more vulnerable to heavy sinkage along the edges. Although there are firmer beds on the market, our testers believe the Nectar is a good option for heavier people who prefer mid-level firmness settings.

Heavier sleepers also tend to prefer mattresses with thicker comfort layers because they make getting on and off the bed easier. The Nectar has roughly 4 inches of comfort layer foam, which is reasonably thick and may be more suitable for heavier individuals.

How Does the Nectar Mattress Compare to Other Beds?

Comparing models is a crucial aspect of mattress shopping. Below, you’ll find how the Nectar Mattress stacks up against four competing models with similar designs or components.

Nectar vs. The Casper

The Nectar and the Casper are both designed with pressure-relieving memory foam comfort layers and a high-density support system for added stability. They also isolate motion transfer very well and sleep fairly cool compared to other all-foam beds.

However, the Casper is somewhat softer with a medium (5) feel. Lighter people may experience more body-cradling and pressure relief, but heavier individuals may find the bed sags a bit too much. The Casper is reasonably priced given its high-quality design, but also more expensive than the Nectar. For more information, check out our Nectar vs. Casper Mattress Comparison.

Nectar vs. Leesa

The all-foam Leesa is another bed that shares several similarities with the Nectar. Both mattresses have mid-level firmness, and while the Leesa is slightly softer, overall support for both beds is fairly consistent across different weight groups and sleep positions.

The Nectar and Leesa also have comparable designs, including memory foam comfort layers, high-density support systems, and TENCEL™ blend covers. The Nectar costs less than the Leesa, thus making it the higher-value option, but both beds offer high-quality construction at a reasonable price-point. Read more about these two beds in our Nectar vs. Leesa Mattress Comparison.

Nectar vs. Tuft & Needle

The T&N Mattress from Tuft & Needle is constructed differently than the Nectar. Rather than memory foam, the T&N features standard polyfoam in its 3-inch comfort layer and high-density base. Although polyfoam does not cradle the body like memory foam, the T&N Mattress alleviates pressure for most sleepers and isolates motion transfer very well.

Both beds have a similar medium-firm feel. Like the Nectar, the T&N Mattress sleeps fairly cool compared to all-foam competitors. And while the Nectar costs more than the T&N Mattress, each bed offers exceptional quality at a very low price-point. Check out our Nectar vs. Tuft & Needle Mattress Comparison to learn more.

Nectar vs. DreamCloud

The DreamCloud is a mattress with a hybrid construction, rather than an all-foam model. It has multiple layers of memory foam over a bed of pocketed coils. Both mattresses have similar firmness ratings, although the Nectar is slightly softer and better suited to lightweight and average sleepers. The DreamCloud’s firmer feel and coil system gives it a stronger degree of support for averageweight and heavyweight sleepers.

Both mattresses use memory foam layers and perform similarly in a few respects, but their constructions give each distinct advantages. As a foam bed, the Nectar is better at relieving pressure, isolating motion, and absorbing noise. The DreamCloud’s hybrid build boosts its durability, as well as providing more edge support, and helping it to sleep cooler. The Nectar costs less than the DreamCloud, although both beds provide a great value for their price-points. Learn more about how these two beds stack up in our Nectar vs. DreamCloud Mattress Comparison.

How Is A Purple Mattress Shipped? – Does it Compare to Nectar?

Purple bed mattress is aiming to alter our very perception of exactly what a perfect mattress should be. According to the sleep expert representing the company, many individuals discover a difficult bed mattress more comfy and maybe an equivalent variety of individuals discover a soft bed mattress more comfy. Many people find a medium quality bed mattress more comfy, which is neither too tough nor too soft. However, all these bed mattress include a few intrinsic problems.

Tough bed mattress are too firm, they do not have bounce and comfort, there is nothing mild about the surface area and there is no comfort. Some individuals like the solidity however wind up with chronic pain. Shoulder pain, back pain and different other musculoskeletal pains are typical when you sleep on a hard bed mattress. Soft bed mattress is not a better alternative if it fails to uniformly distribute the weight and does not provide sufficient back or back assistance. The majority of soft mattresses have the tendency to lose their firmness, despite how firm they were at first. There is no pressure relief at strategic points of the body. In a brief span of time, the soft mattress totally gives up. Medium quality mattresses do not provide any break as they combine the imperfections of tough and soft mattresses. They are just as bad for persistent pain like difficult bed mattress as they can assist in arthritis like soft mattresses.

How is Purple Mattress Different?

Purple bed mattress is neither too hard nor too soft, it is neither medium nor a collection of all 3. Purple bed mattress is not your normal memory foam mattress either. It is really made of hyper elastic polymer. Hyper elastic polymer is a trademarked product. It is a pressure launching product. It is utilized in grid formation developing walls that can fold or support based upon the pressure that is put in on the surface area of the product. The grid development or column style naturally assists in complimentary air circulation. This averts any wetness accumulation or trapping. The lack of moisture makes the bed mattress much safer and enhances the durability. Needless to discuss, it also guarantees better sleep. The free air flow will cool off the surface and also allow body heat to get away. The most common complaint about memory foam is the heating concern. Most business claim to have actually overcome the heating issue however they haven’t and people understand sooner than later. The trademarked polymer materials used in Purple do not have the fundamental problem of memory foam or latex among other mattress technologies.

Purple has as lots of as fifteen patents going into just one mattress. Some of the patents take care of pressure releasing comfort while some address the assistance, some take care of sturdiness while some take care of no feel motion transfer. Purple mattress will not cave in, it will not develop any imprint or impression of the body, it will not lose its firmness or softness, the upper layer or the base layer will not lose their main characteristics, the bed mattress will be versatile enough to endure pressure therefore supplying relief at strategic points whenever needed. It is better to be like grass than a tree. Lawn can endure a storm whereas a tree gets uprooted. Buckling of the surface area is not a bad thing when one needs even circulation of weight or pressure. Purple mattress is nontoxic and irritant resistant or hypoallergenic. It is made from recyclable materials. The bed mattress is CertiPUR-US ® certified.

Purple Mattress Egg Test

You may or may not have seen the advertisement video called the Purple mattress egg test. In the video, a sleep professional uses four eggs at 4 various locations, pasted onto a glass frame that she drops from a height on numerous mattresses. The simple objective is to watch if the eggs break or they remain undamaged. The expectation is that if a mattress can evenly disperse weight and can soak up the weight of a person or any load then there will be no specific force exerted onto any part of the item or person sleeping on the mattress. All specific pressure points will have equivalent relief as the weight gets distributed equally throughout the bed mattress. For this reason, if a mattress is ideal then the eggs will not break. As one would anticipate, the eggs do break when they are allowed to fall from a height being pasted to a glass frame onto many bed mattress with the exception of Purple bed mattress.

Now, there has been criticism of the advertisement due to the fact that Purple mattress has a grid life formation on its upper layer so the eggs can suit those grids or box like structures without getting blasted due to the pressure of the glass frame onto the upper surface of the bed mattress. To be reasonable to Purple, it deserves to show its item’s supremacy. It also has videos showing a side sleeper test, back sleeper test and pressure mapping test. You can view them on the main website.

Purple Mattress Vs Nectar Mattress

You can buy Purple mattress on Amazon or on the main site. You can utilize a Purple mattress discount coupon to get a discount rate. But you would perhaps consider Purple Mattress Vs Casper or Purple Mattress Vs GhostBed before you make a final decision. You should also think about Nectar bed mattress, which transcends to Purple, Casper and GhostBed among others. Let us rapidly check out why.

Casper has four foam layers, GhostBed has 3 and Purple has three. Nectar has four. Casper and Purple are thinner than Nectar. Casper, GhostBed and Purple have firmness score of six to seven, six and a half to 7 and six to 6 and a half out of ten respectively. Nectar has a lower firmness rating, hence offering more comfort without compromising on stability and assistance. Nectar has the least motion transfer amongst the 4. It is also the most inexpensive. Queen Casper costs $950, Queen GhostBed costs $795 and Queen Purple costs $999. Queen Nectar bed mattress is tagged at $795 but you would get a $125 discount rate so you pay $670. Nectar has life time warranty. Casper and Purple have ten years. GhostBed has twenty years. Casper and Purple have a hundred nights trial while GhostBed has a hundred and one nights. Nectar has 3 hundred and sixty five nights of threat complimentary trial.

Review Outline

Our reviews tend to be pretty detailed. If you’re in a rush, you can use the links below to jump to the exact section you want.

YouTube Review Of Nectar Sleep

We realize a lot of consumers would rather watch a video than read a lengthy written article so we put together a short video for you that discusses who might like the Nectar memory foam bed-in-a-box.

However, as with any major purchase, it’s always a good idea to conduct more research rather than less. Keep reading to learn more about this popular online bed.

Nectar Shipping, Returns, Unboxing & Warranty

Before we jump into the meat and potatoes of this review, let’s first cover the side dishes (or in this case, all the company policies). The Nectar mattressships for freeand will arrive at your door rolled up and compressed in a protective bag. It’s important to note that we have received a couple complaints from consumers about the Nectar mattress taking much longer to arrive than anticipated, so keep that in mind. If you do order the bed, don’t expect it to arrive the next day. It may take a week or two to arrive.

Once you unroll the bed, you should itlet it decompressand fully inflate for about 24-48 hours before using.

Once the mattress arrives, though, Nectar gives you a365-night trial period to test out the bed. Yes, that is correct, a full year. That’s 265 days more than what most bed-in-a-box companies offer.

If you decide you don’t like the mattress for any reason during that time period, just contact customer service and they will arrange for someone to pick up the mattress from your home free of charge. The entire return and refund process shouldn’t take longer than one or two weeks.

Nectar also backs their mattresses with what they call their“Forever Warranty.”Basically, in years 1-10, the company will replace the mattress no questions asked if defects are found. In years 10+, the company will either repair or re-cover the bed and cover all transportation costs if manufacturing defects or material failures are discovered. For more details on the warranty, be sure to visit the Nectar’s website.

One last thing. I know this matters to some people. From what we can discern, Nectar mattresses are manufactured overseas, but the company does operate inspection facilities located in the United States. Also, it’s worth noting thatthe foams used in the mattress are CertiPUR-US certified, meaning they are free from harmful chemicals like ozone depleters, mercury and lead.

How Much Is A Nectar Mattress?

Perhaps the best thing about the Nectar mattress is its price tag. It’s anaffordable memory foam bed. The mattress is about $100-$200 cheaper than what seems to be the industry average. Here’s how pricing breaks down by size.

SizePrice (MSRP)
Twin$499
Twin XL$569
Full$699
Queen$799
King / Cal King$999

What’s also nice about Nectar is that the company usually throws in two free pillows when you buy a new bed. Check the green discount box on the right hand side of the screen to see if that particular promotion is still live. You can also just go to NectarSleep.com for more info on discounts and pricing.

How Your Weight Affects The Mattress

As you progress through this review, it’s important to understand why your weight matters when mattress shopping. In short, no two people are the same and thus will have differing opinions on how particular mattresses feel. In our reviews, we write through the lens of an average sized person (150-250 lb), but things change slightly for people who fall outside that range.

For example, in general, heavy people (250+ lb)will feel like most mattresses are softer than what most other people think. This is because big folks place more pressure on a bed and will sink into the bed’s top layers more than the average person. On the other hand, lighter people (150 lb or less)will generally feel like most mattresses are a bit firmer than the average sized sleeper. Lighter people don’t place much stress on a bed, so they’ll sleep more on top of the mattress rather than sort of sinking into it.

Weight also plays a role in how warm or cool a mattress sleeps. As mentioned, heavier people will sink in more so there’s more of a chance the mattress will wrap or hug them and retain more heat, as opposed to lighter people who lay a little more flat on the top layers. Keep this mind as we talk about feel, firmness, and temperature regulation.

Nectar Mattress Design, Thickness & Topper

The Nectar mattress is an all-foam bed that is comprised of four layers and totals 11″ thick. It starts with a thick base layer of support foam. As the name implies, this layer serves as the foundation for the bed. Next is a layer of what the company calls its “Adaptive Hi Core Memory Foam.”

Don’t let the fancy name fool you, though—it’s basically just a dense layer of memory foam that pretty much acts as a transition layer from the support foam below. Next is a layer of gel-memory foam and then on top of that is another layer of gel-memory foam that is quilted into the cover. So in total, you havetwo layers of gel-memory foam on top for comfort and pressure relief.

Inside look at the construction of Nectar mattress

Wrapping the four layers of foam is a removable, tencel blend cover. It’s soft, comfortable, and sort of has a square design, which we think gives the mattress a premium look.

Nectar has a quilted cover with gel memory foam inside

Although the cover is technically removable, it’s recommended you do not remove it and machine wash it. Instead, if you happen to spill something on it or you have an accident (red wine, anyone?), you should just spot clean it with water and a dab of mild detergent.

Our Estimates For Firmness And Feel

As you can imagine, having three layers of memory foam, this bed has adistinct, dense memory foam feel. However, it’s a slightly different memory foam feel than a lot of other beds in that it’s actually quite firm at first. When you lay down on the bed, you don’t immediately sink down.

Rather, it’s more of a process. It takes about 4-6 seconds for the mattress to soften and the memory foam to contour around your body’s shape. Bottom line, we think it’s a very comfortable mattress. If you like the feel of memory foam, we’d bet good money you’d enjoy this bed.

Since it is a somewhat unique memory foam feel, it’s difficult to grade the firmness of the bed, but if pressed, we’d say it’saround a medium to medium-firm on the firmness scale. We think the mattress provides a pretty good balance between pressure relief and support, all things considered.

Is Nectar A Bed For All Sleeping Styles?

In short, yes, we see Nectar as a suitable bed regardless of which position you favor during the night. Let’s begin by discussing side sleepers first.

We thinkside sleepers will be just fineon this mattress. As discussed above, don’t let the initial firmness fool you. You slowly sink into the mattress and the top layers do a good job of cradling your hips and shoulders. All in all, the bed provides a good amount of pressure relief. Remember, the bed will also get softer over time, and will feel softer in warmer rooms.

Good amount of pressure relief for side sleepers

The only caveat we’d add is for extra petite sleepers. People who weigh around 100 lb might not sink in enough to truly experience all the pressure relief the top memory foam layers have to offer. If you want a bed that is great for petite side sleepers, make sure to check out our guide to the Best Soft & Plush Mattresses.

We also contend that, for a budget mattress, Nectar provides more thanadequate support under your hips, trunk, and lower back. You sink into the mattress, but not to the point where your spine is no longer properly aligned.

Great for back and stomach sleepers

Overall, we think the Nectar mattress is a great option for people who spend a lot of time on their back or stomach. Generally, these types of sleepers prefer mattresses that land on the firmer side of the spectrum and Nectar definitely fits the bill. If you’re looking for an even firmer bed, however, you can check out our list of the Best Firm Mattresses.

Given all that we discussed above, you can probably guess what we’re are going to say about combination sleepers, but I’ll save you the trouble. Yes, we thinkthis mattress is ideal for all kinds of sleepers.

However, keep in mind that since the bed does use multiple layers of memory foam, sleepers who are constantly switching positions may find itrequires a little more effort to switch from their back to their stomach, for example. Overall, this really isn’t a big deal. It’s pretty common with memory foam mattresses.

Is Nectar A Bed For Small & Average Size People?

Yes. In fact, it’s probably best for average and petite sized individuals. Average sized people (like Slumber Yard team members Matt and Jeff) find the mattress very supportive and accommodating. Smaller sized folks will like the bed as well, but keep in mind, it will feel slightly firmer to people who weigh less than 150 lb.

Is It Also A Viable Option For Heavy People?

This is a tough one to answer. On one side of the coin, you could argue that Nectar is a good choice since it’s thicker and a little firmer than the average all-foam bed-in-a-box. Generally, the thicker and firmer a mattress is, the less likely a big sleeper will sink in to the point where they lose proper alignment or even bottom out the bed.

On the other side of the coin, you could easily argue that aheavy person should go with a bed that contains coilsinstead, which is a very valid argument. Coil/spring mattresses are more supportive than dense foams and are also just more durable over the long haul. If pressed, we’d have to agree with the coil argument.

We pretty much always recommend heavy people go with a hybrid or innerspring bed. However, if you are dead set on an all-foam bed, the Nectar mattress is one of the better options out there.

What About Couples Who Share A Bed?

Two factors that are important for couples to consider are motion isolation and edge support. We are happy to report that the Nectar mattress performs well in both categories.

The bed does agood job of deadening movement. It passed our tests very easily. This subject is important for people that share a bed with a person that is constantly moving, whether they’re switching sleeping positions, rolling over to turn off the light, or getting up to grab a midnight snack.

The less movement that is transferred from one side of the bed to the other generally translates to a peaceful night of the sleep for both partners.

The Nectar mattress also providespretty decent edge support for an all-foam bed. A lot of hybrid and innerspring beds are better in this department, but the Nectar is still pretty solid, all things considered. As you approach the edge, there’s very little compression and you won’t feel as if you are going to slip right off.

Nectar holds its own along the edges

This particular situation comes into play a lot when one person likes to hog the middle of the bed, leaving the other person sort of stranded in a small area near the perimeter.

Not Hot Or Cold—Right In The Middle

Generally, we rate beds as either warm, cool, or neutral. In Nectar’s case,we’d give it a neutral designation. Histrionically, memory foam is known for retaining heat and sleeping warm. However, since Nectar uses gel-memory foam and it’s fairly firm, we don’t think it’s going to be an issue.

Bottom line, we don’t think you’ll heat up at night nor will the bed do anything special to keep you sleeping cool. Of course, this somewhat depends on your weight. Super heavy folks who sink in more than the average person and may find the mattress hugs them and retains a little more of their natural body heat.

Additionally, it’s important to realize that your mattress isn’t everything when it comes to sleeping temperature. There are a ton of other external factors that affect how warm or cool you sleep. I’m primarily referring to factors like what climate you live in, how often you run your air conditioner and whether you use an electric blanket.

Nectar Mattress Review: Verdict

Overall, we really like the Nectar mattress. For the price you pay, we think it’s an excellent value. In fact, we think so highly of the bed, it even made a few of our Best Lists. Obviously though, if you’re going to get this bed, you’ll have to really like the feel of memory foam.

What Makes The Nectar Mattress Special?

Shopping for a new mattress online these days can be a nightmare (pun intended). There are hundreds of choices, different types of foam and confusing advertisements. As such, you might be wondering how Nectar fits into the big picture. In our opinion, here’s what makes the Nectar mattress unique.

  • Price– The Nectar mattress is one of the most affordable memory foam beds on the market. The fact that you can snag a queen size bed and two pillows for less than $800 is pretty awesome.
  • Memory Foam Feel– If you like the feel of memory foam, it’s tough to beat Nectar. The bed uses three separate layers of memory foam, which makes for a soft, yet supportive sleeping surface.
  • 365 Night Trial Period & Forever Warranty– The company is giving you a full year to test the bed! That’s crazy. There’s only a handful of bed-in-a-box companies that offer the same amount of time. For reference, the industry standard is a 100 night trial period and a 10 year warranty.
  • Accommodates A Variety Of Sleepers– We like that the Nectar mattress works for all types of sleepers. It doesn’t matter whether you spend the majority of time on your side, back or stomach.

The Company’s Adjustable Base

The mattress is also compatible with adjustable bed frames, including the Nectar Adjustable Base. Here’s a look the mattress/adjustable base combo.

What the mattress looks like on Nectar’s adjustable bed frame

Nectar also tends to offer promotions if you get both the bed frame and mattress together. These sorts of bed frames can make watching TV and reading more enjoyable while you’re laying on your mattress.

Sleep Position Ratings

The Nectar Mattress

The Nectar Mattress has a ‘Medium Firm’ feel. that best suits back and stomach sleepers who weigh at least 130 pounds, as well as side sleepers weighing more than 230 pounds.

It may feel excessively firm for some sleepers, particularly side sleepers who weigh less than 130 pounds; these sleepers typically require a softer mattress to cushion the shoulders and hips for better spinal alignment. Lighter back and stomach sleepers may also find the Nectar Mattress too firm.

The Casper Mattress

The Casper Mattress has a ‘Medium’ feel that conforms somewhat closely. This makes it suitable for side, back, and stomach sleepers who weigh 230 pounds or less.

Its lower-than-average profile may also be a good option for exceptionally lightweight people, who often struggle getting on and off of thicker beds. However, it may be too soft and conform too closely for some sleepers – namely back and stomach sleepers weighing more than 230 pounds.

Nectar Mattress Complaints: Don’t Order It Before Reading This….

Before buying a mattress it’s always good to check what other people’s experiences have been. Today we’re going to discuss the Nectar Mattress complaints. As it’s a popular mattress – but there’s no place where all the complaints to-date are listed.

So we searched around the internet for Nectar Mattress complaints. And here’s a list of what people find wrong with the mattress. (since it’s a Nectar mattress complaint list, I had to let go of all the glowing happy customer reviews).

I suspect that around 10% of reviews I saw about the Nectar Mattress were complaints. So if you’re thinking of getting the mattress, you can take a look on this page what most people say. But bear in mind that these are only the negative ones.

      Nectar mattress complaints

After doing my research I’ve seen that the majority of Nectar Mattress complaints areabout the delivery time. There were few to no complaints about how the mattress actually sleeps. So that’s a thing to keep in mind.

The company promises to deliver your mattress within 5 days (in the U.S.), but often customers have waited longer before they got their mattress. One case even saw a woman waiting more than a month – and cancelling the order as a result.

Now, the main reason why shipping times have been so long in the past was most likely because the company had received a large amount of orders. And they had to finish their backlog before being able to send out new mattresses.

However, I’ve recently read that the company has cleaned their act (in regards to shipping and production). And that they have learned to handle their new popularity. So the chances that your mattress will be delivered late are small. (but it can still happen, of course. Like with every other product that gets delivered to your home.)

My opinion is that if the most common and harsh complaint is that the mattress takes a while to deliver – and we’re talking about a company that’s growing fast – there’s not much to worry about (when talking about the actual quality of the mattress).

But without further ado. Let’s dive into the Nectar Mattress complaints! I’ve divided them into easy-to-read sections, so you can clearly look at different aspects.

Nectar mattress complaints: delivery & setup of the mattress

“Good luck to all of you that are waiting for your Nectar mattress. I ordered mine on March 1st. I finally cancelled the order yesterday, April 6th. I received a couple of emails saying it hadn’t shipped but nothing about when it would. The refund has not hit the bank yet and they haven’t even sent a cancellation confirmation. I’m settling in for a long battle to get my refund.” (source)

“Not long ago a friend of mine told me she had bought a Leesa mattress and she could hardly stand the off-gassing “new mattress” smell. That had me worried about this new mattress because my husband can be sensitive to particular odors.

The smell of the new mattress really wasn’t noticeable as I was getting it set up, but it was there when I put my face against it, and it was still there when I went to bed that night.

The off-gassing from the Nectar mattress did go away, though! It took about 3 days, and it was only apparent when laying right on it.” (source)

“ I ordered mine sometime in the middle of February with the white glove service. It finally shipped and arrived at the delivery service on the 4th, but I have yet to receive a call from anyone about delivery. I spoke with a Nectar Sleep rep and they could only tell me when it shipped. I contacted the delivery company Manko yesterday, and they couldn’t find my order. I called Nectar Sleep again and they took my number and email and said they would contact the delivery service. Needless to say, the white glove service isn’t worth it. I just want a bed or my money.” (source)

“ ^ – This is a copied message from another reddit sub but I want to inform you guys what you’re getting yourself into. I wish I saw this before I went through all the trouble with this company. I purchased the mattress on May 21st with the so-called “$125 + 2 pillows” which I later found out is doesn’t ever expires. NECTAR immediately charged me and after a week let me know it was delayed…

Being a patient person, I asked at the second week how it was doing. They said sorry and that it was going to be further delayed and that I should expect shipment within 24 hours. Didn’t happen and in the middle of the third week after I threaten to cancel if I didn’t get tracking number they responded that it was delayed and will be given within 24 hours. More than 24 hours later I get the tracking number but guess what…

After SEVEN days the shipment was at the same location! The company gets the label but doesn’t move inventory. Long story short, they lied to me three more times about inventory movement but I think people are catching on their scam so they can’t ship inventory. I have a theory that they use new orders to fulfil previous backlog orders.

Anyway, I finally called my bank to get the money wired back and have an investigation done on this transaction. I also filed a FTC report.; hopefully, they shut this company down from scamming more folks. If any of you file a class action lawsuit against NECTAR from targeting the Amercian people, you have my support.

Don’t take the unnecessary risk to save a couple of bucks and just because some got theirs mattress. I learn the hard way that if something is too good to be true, it more than likely is.” (source)

The following Nectar Mattress complaints were comments underneath the following YouTube video. Feel free to check out the video if you want to hear an actual customer service call with Nectar (starts at 10.30).

“I ordered my mattress and got it a lot later than they stated :/ however the big problem that i’ve had is the smell of the mattress. Even after allowing it to air out, 6 weeks later it still has a heavy chemical smell.”

“I ordered mine 3 weeks ago and still haven’t received it! There logistics department is UNREAL incompetent. What did customer service tell you each time you called to ask where your mattress was? Every time I call they say my purchase is under investigation LOL. Why in God’s name does a paid for purchase need to be investigated. I feel like it’s a crime to purchase something from these people.”

“ I placed my order on April 10 2018 and the shipping issues have me frustrated already ! I get all excited thinking Im getting home to a new bed just to find out that the bed got shipped back
I just want a good night sleep lol
this will be the 3RD TIME GETTING IT RESHIPPED ,”

“FYI, they don’t come and get your mattress back, Nectar just has someone come over and get it and they donate it off to charity or dump it. It’s illegal to resale a used mattress.”

“ Just something I feel a lot of people don’t really consider about these 100 – 365 day trials. The company is banking on you not keeping your old mattress. Who wants to keep a second mattress laying around for several months to a year just incase they don’t like the new one that far down the road? “

“They know this and expect most people will get rid of their old one, which will make them more reluctant to send the new one back. It’s still a great thing to have a trial, but consider the reality of actually making that trial work.”

      Nectar mattress complaints: comfort

“ EDIT: So I took the dive and ordered the Nectar. I’ve had it for about 3 weeks now. For the most part I do like it. As far as the feel goes I love it. I don’t wake up in the middle of the night, and I fall asleep faster. It does make it harder to get out of bed in the morning ◕‿↼. It has a good balance of cradling you for the first few inches, and then supporting you so you don’t feel like you are in a hammock. I weigh about 245 lbs, so a lot of softer memory foams felt like I was sinking too far into them. I’m naturally a warm sleeper, and switching from a traditional spring mattress to a memory foam is going to increase the temperature retention, no matter what kind of gel or tencel tech it has in it. It’s not unbearable, but it is a little uncomfortable. Although I am switching from a comforter to a lighter weight quilt soon and hopefully that may solve the problem. There was some off gassing, but it dissipated within a couple of days. Overall I would recommend this mattress as it is currently, I’ll periodically try to update this if there are any changes. (source)”

“Both the Nectar and Casper mattresses struggle when it comes to providing edge support. These mattresses do not have any design elements that are meant to bolster the foam at the edge, and because of this, it may feel unstable or that the foam is giving way when you sit or lie down at the edge. Nectar mattress complaints: customer service

“I expect they will honor it. I had a problem with delivery and set up and they refunded me the cost of that. Then they offered to reimburse me the cost of a mattress topper when my wife wanted to try that. Overall, even though I had a couple of issues, they made every effort to accommodate me. I don’t expect to have to use the return policy, but I have until 2018 to decide. Good luck. (source)”

“ My advice is to stay away from nectar. Nectar Sleep is nothing but a scam. The are just a distributor of a Chinese made mattress and are making money off of lying and ripping off anyone who is stupid enough to believe them. They have terrible customer service. After trying to contact them for more than a week to cancel/refund my order because they kept lying about the shipping date, they are still ignoring me. I’ve had to resort to filing a complaint with the BBB. When I was looking for a mattress I tried to buy this one. When I placed my order I was told that it would ship by 5/11. 5/11 came and went and I reached out to the company, and their reply was it would definitely ship 5/13. On 5/14 I emailed asking to confirm the mattress shipped. They email back it did shipped, so I asked for a tracking number. Then they emailed back that it would ship soon. Getting concerned about the conflicting emails I requested that they cancel my order and refund my money. I have yet to hear back from them after sending several more emails and leaving multiple voicemails. I’m very unhappy with this company and suspect there is something fishy going on. I’ve tried contacting the company through Facebook as well but they have blocked me and have deleted my reviews. (source)”

“I’ve never experienced more polarizing reviews than with Nectar. Almost 90% of the negative reviews come from criticism of their customer service (which has been just okay for me), shipping dates, or hyper scrutiny of their business practices. Not actual comfort or quality of the mattress.

I ordered my Nectar about 2.5 weeks ago. Finally received it Tuesday of last week. So it took a little longer than originally advertised. This delay was attributed to the large influx of orders they received from their sale. Not too unusual.

It’s comfortable. I’d say a 7 out of 10 firmness. It’s getting warmer where I live and the bed sleeps cooler than any other memory foam I’ve experienced. It supports me where it needs to, and I don’t wake up in the middle of the night anymore. I find it to be a very nice quality mattress for the money. My back aches and shoulder pain have gradually faded… but I was sleeping on a 7 year old spring before.

Customer service varies from somewhat responsive, to responsive, to absent minded for me. They did inform me of the delay, which wasn’t awful. Also, the chat personnel on the website seems somewhat helpful these days too. I asked for a refund to see what that process would be like (simply because I was curious, I do not intend on returning my mattress yet..) I had a response in chat and a follow up email requesting my order number and info within minutes of closing chat. That’s all the further I’ve taken the process as I intend to keep the mattress.

The negative reviews are so incendiary I expected a heap of shit to roll out of the delivery package. The bed is good. The customer service needs work. Far from a scam as some claim. (source)”

“ I ordered a mattress back in the middle of January 2018. I accepted that is would not be delivered until February 2, 2018, due to the large number of orders. The 888 number goes unanswered. The only way to get in touch is via the online help. After four missed ship dates, I requested a refund. They said okay, but it would take two days to process. I let four days pass and get no refund. Again, per online chat, it cannot be processed until the bed actually is ready to ship.

Based on the fact that we are nearly a month and a half without shipment, I will never get a refund. This refund process is either a lie or just simple stupidity. Nectar as a company cannot deliver. (source)”

“I purchased the beginning of January. They said it would ship before or on January 31st, but now it says shipping on February 8th. Then I call and they said it could be pushed back further, but they won’t know yet. This is unacceptable. It’s not like I’m ordering paper towels and can supplement with other ones before it arrives. We’re talking about a bed that I’ve been waiting on. Buy somewhere else. (source)”

“Shipping for the Nectar in the continental United States is completely free. If you live in Alaska or Hawaii, then the shipping does cost a little bit, but it’s still very affordable and Nectar absorbs most of the cost for you. If you ever need to make a return, the return shipping is also free.

As we mentioned previously, Nectar has become so popular that demand for the mattresses is often greater than available supply. There has been a waiting period – between placing your order for a Nectar and the mattress being shipped out due the massive demand for Nectar.

This has lead to a small number of customers complaining. However, in the company’s defence, when your mattress will be shipped and if there is currently any waiting period is advertised very clearly before you place your order (at the time of writing, there is currently no waiting period for example). Customer service is also very responsive if you want to check on your order status. (source)”

      Nectar mattress conclusion:

So, that was it for the Nectar Mattress complaints. As with every online products (whether that be mattresses, blenders or toothbrushes), there will be complaints. Especially for popular companies.

The fact that the majority of Nectar mattress complaints were about the delivery time makes me have faith in the actual quality of the mattress more.

Furthermore, as you might’ve read in some of the complaints, it’s that Nectar offers a 365 days sleeping trial. Which means that you can try out the mattress for an entire year. And if you’re not happy, you can safely return it.

Of course, you may need to call CS a few times, but all in all it’s an offer with basically no risk whatsoever.

Click here to order the Nectar mattress & try it out for 365 days (risk-free)!

P.S.Most of the Nectar mattress complaints were about shipping time – the actual quality of the mattress is very good for its price.
