Endy Mattress Review – Great For Back Sleepers?

The Endy mattress is definitelyone ofCanada’s most popular mattresses. It is an all-foam mattress with a streamlined design that also contains Endy Foam, a unique soft-yet-responsive alternative to memory foam.

I have reviewed the Endy before, butthe design has changed slightlysince then. I was a fan of the original design so I was interested to see how this new Endy would compare.

The Endy isonly available in Canadabut we wanted to make it was still a comfortable option for our friends to the North. This review will cover everything consumers should know about the Endy, including a breakdown of the construction, firmness and feel, breathability, durability, comfort, support and much more.

Who Might Want To Pick The Endy:

  • Those who want a medium-firm mattress-The Endy is right in the middle in terms of firmness compared to other mattresses reviewed on this website. If someone is looking for a mattress that is not too firm and not too soft, the Endy could be an excellent option.
  • Light- or medium-weight side sleepers-The Endy has very soft foam near the top of the mattress that lightweight sleepers will really enjoy. If someone isn’t too heavy, they should sink into the Endy and feel great pressure relief on their shoulders and hips. Lighter and medium-weight side sleepers should feel great pressure relief on the Endy.
  • Back sleepers-Being a medium-firm mattress, the Endy has a nice balance of comfort and support, which is something that back sleepers should always look for. The Endy will let people’s hips sink into the mattress, while it supports their lower back and contours to the shape of their body.
  • Combination sleepers-If sleepers switch positions at night, the Endy should also work for them, because it has that balance of comfort and support. As people move from their back to their side to their stomach, they should feel like the mattress is a good fit for them.

Who Might Not Want To Pick The Endy:

  • Stomach sleepers-If someone just sleeps on their stomach, the Endy might not be firm and supportive enough for them. Stomach sleepers usually want to find a mattress that offers more support and firmness. The Endy is only medium-firm so stomach sleepers should look for a firmer mattress.
  • Those who want a very soft or very firm mattress-If someone prefers a mattress that is at either end of the firmness spectrum, the Endy might not be the best pick, because it feels close to a 6.5/10, right in the middle of the firmness spectrum. If someone wants something extremely soft or firm, they will have to look elsewhere to obtain it.
  • Heavier side sleepers-If someone is a larger person and sleeps primarily on their side, the Endy might not work for them either. The comfort layer is not too thick, so they could press down to the firmer support layers and feel some more firmness and serious pressure on their shoulders and hips.

Construction

  • The Endy is10″ talland features a simple construction with three separate foam layers.
  • On top, there is a removable micro-quilted cover that doesn’t affect the overall feel of the mattress significantly.
  • Then there is a layer ofEndy Comfort Foam, which has great pressure relief but also bounce and resilience too.
  • Below that, there is a layer of transitional polyfoam that acts as a buffer between the comfort layer and support layer underneath.
  • Finally, there is a thick layer of base polyfoam, which is a pretty standard base layer in the industry.

Construction Takeaways

  • The Micro Quilted Cover is thin andvery breathable, so it should allow for air to flow through the top of the mattress. People can also remove the top cover and wash it at home if needed.
  • The Endy has a very streamlined design, and it has three layers but is still a very comfortable mattress.
  • The Endy Comfort Foam has memory foam qualities but it is alsoquite bouncy, which means people will sink into the mattress, but they shouldn’t have trouble moving around or switching positions.
  • The Endy Foam is also open-celled, making it more breathable than other types of foam. It shouldn’t trap too much heat and should keep people sleeping cool throughout the night.
  • The top layer of foam should provide verynice pressure relieffor most sleepers. However, if someone is heavier, they could press right through the Endy Foam and hit the transition layer and support layer beneath. Because of this, heavier sleepers might feel less pressure relief on the Endy than sleepers who are lightweight.

How This Compares To The Casper

If someone is taking a look at the Endy, they might want to know how it compares to one of its main competitors, the Casper mattress. I have spent a lot of time on both mattresses, and there are some clear differences consumers should know about.

First, they have a different number of layers; theCasper has four layerswhile the Endy only has three. That extra layer in the Casper features Zoned Support, which makes the Casper firmer in the center and softer toward the top and bottom. The Endy has no such zoned construction and has a more uniform feel throughout the mattress.

People will get more out of the Casper, butit does cost more than the Endy. If someone has serious budgetary constraints or is light- or medium-weight, the Endy should work for them. Both mattresses have a similarly balanced foam feel, and people should get the comfort and support they need on the Endy.

However, if someone is a larger person, the Casper is going to be the better choice for a number of reasons. They will feel theZoned Supporton the lumbar area, so they should feel better support when they are back sleeping. At the same time, they should feel better pressure relief when you are on their side.

Firmness And Feel

In my experience, the Endy felt like a6.5/10, close to medium-firm. The top layer of Endy foam is very soft so it is easy to press into the mattress. However, once you press down, you will feel the firmer transition layer and then the support layer. The combination of these layers gives the Endy that medium firmness.

However, if you are a larger person, you might feel like the Endy is firmer. Especially when you are on your side, you could press through the Endy Foam layer and hit those firmer layers beneath. This could cause you to feel some more pressure on your shoulders and hips.

That being said, here is how it felt while sleeping on the Endy:

  • Lying on my back, the Endy is properly supportive. My hips sink into the Endy Foam, but they are then stopped by the transition and support layers. The Endy Foam alsoconforms to the shape of my body. All-in-all, it is a good match for me when back sleeping.
  • Moving to my side, I feel somegood pressure reliefon my shoulders and hips. I will note that I only weigh 160 lbs. Those who light- and medium-weight should feel similarly side sleeping on the Endy. Again, heavier side sleepers are going to press in and feel some more pressure.
  • While I feel decently supported stomach sleeping on the Endy, those who sleep just on their stomach might want to look for a firmer, more supportive mattress. You might not get enough support on your hips, especially if you are larger.

The Endy has abalanced foam feel. That top layer of Endy Foam is soft but also responsive. It bounces back into place quickly. Lying on the Endy, I sink in, but it is not difficult to move around.

Motion Transfer

If someone shares your bed with someone, it is smart to think about motion transfer. Basically, it is important to know whether or not someone and their partner will disturb one another. When they move around on their side of the mattress, will their partner feel it on their side?

To test how well the Endy isolates motion, I first used a glass of water and placed it on one side of the Endy and pressed into the other side. The water was not disturbed too much from this test. I also lay on the Endy while Marten got in and out of the other side of the bed, and hismotion did not transferto me.

Overall, the Endy handles motion transfer well and could be a good mattress for couples who don’t want to be disturbed by their partner’s movements.

Edge Support

Couples are also going to want to think about edge support. Edge support is a measure of how secure people feel when sitting or lying near the edge of a mattress. This is important for couples because they both want to make sure that they willhave enough room to sleep.

Sitting near the edge of the Endy mattress, the foam does collapse. I don’t feel extremely secure sitting down. Also, when I lie down near the edge of the Endy, I feel a bit likeI might roll off the mattress.

The Endy does not feature the best edge support, as evidenced by the photo below.

Marten’s Take

One’s experience with any given mattress is going todepend greatly on their size and weight.Since I am 5’9″ 160 lbs, I wanted to get a different opinion on the Endy and asked Marten, one of our staff writers and reviewers, to talk about his experience on the Endy. He is 6’7″ and 230 lbs. The following is Marten’s experience with the mattress and his opinion on how appropriate it is for heavier sleepers.

Joe said this was a 6.5/10, and I thought it was closer to a 7.5/10. The Endy has a thinner comfort layer so I am pressing right through that and engaging the support layers below. This makes the mattress feel firmer to me than it did to Joe as a result.

Here is how it felt in each sleeping position:

  • Starting on my back, the Endy is a decent match for me, as my hips sink in but not too far. The Endy Foam is also pressing up into the lumbar area, which is a nice, supportive feeling.
  • Moving to my side, I am feeling some more pressure on the shoulders and hips than Joe did. I wouldn’t say it is a poor match for side sleeping, but if someone is heavier than 230 lbs and sleeps on their stomach, they might want a mattress with a thicker comfort layer.
  • When I am on my stomach, the mattress is too soft for me. I am bowing in at the hips and feeling myself get out of alignment, and I am also feeling some lower back strain.

If someone is a heavier back sleeper, the Endy could work for them. Much heavier side sleepers over 230 lbs might need a softer mattress with a thick comfort layer. Heavier stomach sleepers should find a more supportive mattress with more firmness.

As I wrote about earlier, heavier people are going to have a different experience on the Endy. Readers can see that Marten wastoo large to side sleepon the Endy. He pressed through the top layer and hit the support layers beneath, something called “bottoming out.” Also, because of his weight, he was not getting enough support when he was on his stomach.

Unboxing The Endy

It should be very easy to unbox the Endy if people follow these simple instructions. First, when you get your bed-in-a-box mattress at your doorstep, ask a friend to help you move itto your bedroom. It isn’t the heaviest mattress we have tried, but you don’t want to throw your back out!

Next, open the box and remove the rolled-up mattress. Place it on your frame or foundation and then carefully cut through the multiple layers of plastic, making sure notto damage the mattress!

Finally, clear away all of the plastic and other packing materials, and you will want to leave the window open and give the mattress a few days to fully expand!

How soft or firm is The Endy Mattress?

The Endy Mattress is a medium-firm mattress designed to reduce pressure to your back and hips for optimal comfort. The perfect firmness of our mattresses is engineered by the combination of proprietary Endy Foam layers:

  1. The top Endy Comfort Foam layer has a unique open-air cell structure, which acts as a network of individual shock absorbers, contouring the foam to your body by releasing air independently as pressure increases. This technology also reduces motion transfer, meaning you can change sleeping positions throughout the night without waking your partner.
  2. The middle foam layer is essential in providing support so you never feel like you are stuck within the softness of the comfort-focused top layer. This meticulously crafted transition foam gives the mattress bounce while providing a gradual transfer of energy, making it ideal for all sleeping positions.
  3. Lastly, the high-density bottom layer keeps sleepers properly supported creating a perfectly balanced sleep experience.

Unlike traditional memory foam which changes firmness depending on seasonal temperature, Endy Foam is temperature insensitive. This means it maintains a consistent, comfortable feel through every Canadian season.

People of different body types and shapes will feel firmness differently. Our mattress will provide optimal comfort for individuals under 250 pounds, with a total capacity of 500 pounds.

In their technical deep-dive, Sleepopolis rated the Endy Mattress a 6.5 out of 10 in terms of firmness, calling it a perfect medium-firm. Check out their in-depth review for more information.

Endy Mattress Review 2020

Endy is a start-up mattress company named after Endymion, an ancient Greek mythological figure whom Zeus put to eternal sleep to preserve his youthful beauty forever. With its innovative mattress technology, Endy promises a similar depth of comfort. Unlike competing products, Endy’s mattress uses three layers of premium material to ensure that you get a good night’s sleep. Even better, Endy cuts out middleman markups, giving you a premium product at far more affordable prices. You’ll also get a lengthy product warranty and a risk-free home trial. Check out Endy today!

  1. 100-Night Trial, 10 Year Warranty:Endy offers a risk-free, 100 night home trial, plus a more-than-reasonable 10 year warranty.
  2. Unique Construction:The Endy mattress uses a unique, cooling gel-infused top layer for better heat dispersal, plus two additional layers for optimal comfort and support.
  3. Free Shipping:Endy saves you money by offering free shipping to both Canada and the United States.
  1. Might Be a Bit Soft:The Endy mattress is one of the softer mattresses out there; those who want a firmer mattress might want to look elsewhere.
  2. Price:While certainly leagues cheaper than most retail mattresses, Endy costs slightly more than some of their online-only competition.

Pricing

The smallest Endy mattress is a Twin size priced at $675, while the largest – a California King size – will cost you a cool $950. Compared to some online-only mattress companies, Endy’s offerings are slightly pricier. That said, we don’t count this as a huge drawback, since you’re still getting a high quality mattress at significant lower prices compared to most brick-and-mortar showroom offerings. Below is a quick look at all of the available sizes:

Mattress Sizes
TwinTwin XLFullQueenKingCal. King
Price$675$700$775$850$950$950

Construction

Endy sets itself apart from most online mattress companies through the unique construction of its core product. Unlike other companies that simply use foam or latex layers, the top layer of Endy’s mattresses uses memory foam infused with a 2-inch sheet of cooling gel. Thanks to this, Endy mattresses disperse body heat better than most alternatives, ensuring a cooler and more comfortable night for you.

For Endy mattresses’ middle layer, meanwhile, you’ll get a 3-inch-thick high-density polyurethane foam. This mid-layer makes for a gradual transition between memory foam and base, offering added support without sacrificing your comfort. Finally, the 5-inch-thick base layer uses the same polyurethan foam to distribute your weight and keep you well-supported. Taken together, these layers make up a mattress that offers 10 full inches of comfortable padding for you.

That said, Endy mattresses are some of the softest in the industry. You’ll still get an agreeable firmness, but Endy manages to imbue its mattresses with softness and plushness at the same time, too. If you prefer a firm mattress with a sturdier feel, Endy’s products might not be to your liking.

Home Trial and Warranty

If you’d like hands-on experience before making a decision, then you can take advantage of Endy’s very generous 100-night home trial. This basically gives you enough time to adapt to the mattress and see whether or not it works for you. If you feel that Endy’s mattresses don’t fit your needs, you can cancel within the allotted period without any risks: Endy will gladly give you a full refund, no questions asked – and they’ll even throw a free mattress pickup into the deal.

If you do purchase an Endy mattress, you can rest easy, too. Endy gives you a lengthy 10-year warranty for added peace of mind.

The Endy Pillow

If you want the complete Endy sleeping experience, you might want to take a look at their new pillow. The Endy Moon is a 3-layer pillow that combines a 100% cotton cover, a plush, silky-soft microfiber fill, and a high-density shredded memory foam core that offers support and comfort. The Endy Moon comes in two sizes, with the following prices:

In either case, the Endy Moon comes in on the more expensive side of the spectrum when compared to regular pillows. Considering its use of a bamboo charcoal shredded memory foam core, though, the Endy Moon is more comparable to specialty pillows, which tend to sell for similar prices. For added peace of mind, Endy gives you get a 60-night home trial, ensuring the same risk-free experience as their mattress home trial. You’ll also get a lengthy 3-year warranty if you do decide to buy an Endy Moon.

Shipping

Endy offers free shipping for customers in the US and Canada. You can expect the delivery in around 3 to 7 business days. The mattress comes in a portable box, which is handy for hauling the mattress up, say, a narrow flight of stairs or down your apartment building’s corridor.

One caveat regarding shipping: for those who want or need to have their mattress on the same day you lodge an order, you’ll be disappointed to know that Endy doesn’t have same-day deliveries. Of course, with free shipping and a relatively speedy regular delivery, this isn’t a major loss.

Customer Support

Endy’s customer support can be reached via phone every Monday-Friday, from 9am to 6pm EST. You can also reach them via email. Finally, they also have a FAQ section that covers just about all the topics you can think of about their product and service.

What’s the Verdict on Endy?

Endy Review 2020 – Conclusion

While Endy is still a very young company, that hasn’t stopped it from becoming one of the better options out there when it comes to affordable, premium mattresses. The Endy mattress’ use of a unique cooling gel-infused layer is truly innovative, and those who enjoy a soft but relatively firm mattress will absolutely love this. More important, each Endy mattress comes with a generous 100-night home trial and a lengthy 10-year warranty for added peace of mind.

Overall, despite some quibbles, Endy’s mattresses offer a ton of value, earning a prime spot on our list. Go ahead and try Endy today!

  • Sleepers who prefer a balance of body-conforming and responsiveness. The Endy Mattress contours somewhat to the body in order to alleviate pressure, but the polyfoam is a bit bouncier and more responsive than memory foam. This creates a feeling of both sleeping “on” and sleeping “in” the mattress.
  • People who weigh 230 pounds or less. After testing the Endy Mattress, we found this model is best suited to sleepers in the lightweight and average weight groups.
  • Couples.Like other all-foam beds, the Endy Mattress reduces disruptions for co-sleepers by isolating motion very well and not producing any noise.
  • Value seekers.Compared to the average mattress, the Endy Mattress has a very low price-point.

Not Recommended for.

  • Sleepers who prefer close body-conforming.The mattress conforms to a noticeable degree, but it does not provide the same pressure-relieving body cradle as memory foam.
  • Hot sleepers. The bed’s foam layers absorb a fair amount of body heat from sleepers, and may feel excessively warm as a result.

How Is the Endy Mattress Constructed?

Cover

The Endy Mattress has a cover made of 97 percent polyester and 3 percent spandex. The fabric has an exceptionally soft and stretchy feel.

The cover can be unzipped and removed from the mattress for cleaning. If staining occurs, Endy recommends either spot-cleaning with mild detergent and water, or machine-washing the cover in warm water and allowing it to air-dry.

Comfort Layers

The Endy Mattress has a 2-inch comfort layer made of open-cell polyfoam with a medium-firm feel. The foam is also somewhat responsive compared to memory foam, giving the surface a light bounce. Due to its lower density (3 PCF), the material is fairly breathable but also susceptible to early wear and tear.

Transitional Layer

A 3-inch transitional layer of high-density (1.8 PCF) polyfoam rests beneath the comfort layer. Acting as a buffer for sleepers, this material prevents them from sinking too deeply into the mattress and coming into contact with the support core.

Support Layers

The Endy Mattress has a 5-inch polyfoam support core. The bed’s support foam has the same density as the transitional layer (1.8 PCF), but it feels firmer and is less susceptible to sagging. The support core stabilizes the entire bed in order to keep sleepers on an even plane.

Mattress Height

The Endy Mattress measures 10 inches thick, making it a medium-profile model. The bed mostly consists of high-density polyfoam, and sacrifices comfort layer space in order to provide more stability for sleepers. As a result, the mattress feels fairly firm and supportive, and does not conform to the body very closely.

What Are the Firmness and Feel Like?

The Endy Mattress has a medium-firm feel. Sleepers experience some body-conforming, but the polyfoam does not mold closely to the sleeper like memory foam. The thick transitional and base layers of high-density polyfoam ensure even support and minimal sagging for most sleepers who weigh 230 pounds or less.

The mattress – like other all-polyfoam beds – is also fairly responsive. This creates a balanced feeling of both sleeping “on” and sleeping “in” the mattress.

Ratings Breakdown

Performance Ratings

Next, let’s take a closer look at our performance ratings for the Endy Mattress. Each rating is based on findings from our internal and external testing teams, along with experiences from verified Endy owners.

Durability

The Endy Mattress has been available to the public since 2015. We have not had enough time to evaluate this model across the average mattress lifespan of six to eight years. Therefore, our durability rating is based on the bed’s quality of materials and construction, owner experiences, and Endy’s overall reputation.

We estimate the Endy Mattress will perform for about six to six and a half years before a replacement is needed. This expected lifespan is on par with the average all-polyfoam model, but slightly shorter than the average lifespan for all mattress types. Thick transitional and base layers of high-density polyfoam should prevent heavy sagging over time.

However, the mattress is susceptible to deep sinkage along the edges where people sit when getting in and out of bed. Additionally, the low-density comfort layer will likely begin to deteriorate before the other components, and this may cause body impressions to form on the surface.

In order to minimize these impressions, we recommend rotating the Endy Mattress head-to-foot every three to six months.

Motion Isolation

To evaluate the Endy Mattress for motion isolation, we asked two testers to lie side-by-side on the bed. One tester moved around while the other felt for motion transferring across the surface. During this test, the Endy Mattress exhibited excellent motion isolation. The polyfoam absorbed movement exceptionally well, and neither tester felt any transfer on the surface.

All-foam beds like the Endy Mattress often excel at motion isolation. Other mattress types – such as latex, innerspring, and hybrid – have components that make their surfaces feel much more responsive, and this can lead to more motion transfer (and sleep disruptions) for co-sleepers.

Off-Gassing

Our testers noticed some off-gassing odor when unboxing the Endy Mattress. However, these smells had mostly dissipated when they re-evaluated the mattress a few days later. Very few owners report bothersome smells after the first few days, as well.

New all-foam mattresses tend to produce the most odor because they emit volatile organic compounds (VOCs), relatively harmless particles that carry a distinct chemical smell. That said, most lose their odor within one week or less, and most models are not associated with long-term smells.

Pressure Relief

To evaluate the Endy Mattress for pressure relief, our testers took turns lying on a sensory pad that tracks pressure build-up in the shoulders, hips, and other sensitive areas. The testers also switched positions to see if the pressure increased or decreased when lying on their sides, back, or stomach.

Throughout these tests, the Endy Mattress demonstrated very good pressure relief for sleepers weighing 230 pounds or less. The comfort layer conforms closely enough to align the spine and reduce pressure for side sleepers without sacrificing even support for back and stomach sleepers. That said, heavier individuals may sink a bit too deeply into the mattress and experience added pressure as a result.

Temperature Neutrality

The Endy Mattress has a comfort layer of low-density, open-cell polyfoam. This material is fairly breathable compared to higher-density foams, particularly memory foam. However, the bed still absorbs a fair amount of body heat from sleepers due to its all-foam construction. This may cause some sleepers to feel uncomfortably warm, especially if they naturally run hot.

Many all-foam mattresses tend to sleep hot. Their solid foam components do not circulate air very well, causing the comfort layers to trap heat. Beds with more breathable materials, such as ventilated latex or open coil systems, usually sleep much cooler by comparison.

Edge Support

To evaluate the Endy Mattress for edge support, our testers sat along the perimeter as an owner might do when getting in and out of bed. All of our testers noticed some sinkage when seated on the edges, indicating minimal support from the transitional and base layers, but the mattress performed better in this category than many of its all-foam competitors.

The testers also took turns lying near the edges of the mattress to check for feelings of “roll-off.” Sinkage was also an issue during this test, particularly when the testers changed sleep positions, but overall they felt relatively stable.

All-foam mattresses generally offer minimal edge support because polyfoam – even with a high-density – does not withstand compression very well. Most hybrid and innerspring models offer better perimeter reinforcement due to their thick coil systems.

Noise

During our tests, we noticed the Endy Mattress is virtually silent when bearing weight. This is a common attribute of all-foam beds. Other mattress types produce more noise due to certain internal components, such as the coils found in innersprings and hybrids, or the motorized air chambers found in airbeds.

Because the mattress isolates motion very well and does not make any noise, we recommend this model to anyone who experiences disruptions due to their co-sleeper’s movements during the night.

The Endy Mattress has some responsiveness, but it lacks the bounciness of hybrids and innersprings. Couples may not find the mattress springy enough for sex. Additionally, the limited edge support prevents couples from using the entire surface of the mattress.

Sleeper Ratings

The ideal firmness and thickness for a mattress largely depend on a sleeper’s body weight, shape, and preferred sleep position. In order to better inform our readers and avoid subjectivity in our review, the Tuck team evaluated the bed with sleep testers of varying body types and position preferences.

Lightweight Sleepers – Less than 130 lbs.

Our lightweight sleep testers awarded positive ratings to the Endy Mattress. Side sleepers found the mattress a bit on the firm side, but the low-density comfort layer offered adequate padding while the transitional and support layers kept their bodies on an even plane. For back and stomach sleepers in this weight group, the mattress offered a good balance of conforming and support – but again, the mattress was a little too firm for their liking.

Lightweight sleepers usually prefer mattresses with soft to medium-soft feels. These beds conform closely enough to cradle the sleeper, align the spine, and alleviate pressure points throughout their body. Firmer beds tend to conform less, and sleepers weighing less than 130 pounds do not experience as much pressure relief as they might on a softer mattress.

Average Weight Sleepers – 130 to 230 lbs.

The best ratings for the Endy Mattress came from our side sleepers in the average weight group. They felt very comfortable thanks to the bed’s medium-firm feel and ample cushioning from the low-density comfort layer. Back and stomach sleepers weighing 130 to 230 pounds also liked the mattress, though they noted some sagging around the midsection.

For most average weight sleepers, the ideal mattress falls between medium-soft and medium-firm. These beds provide a balance of body-contouring and even support, resulting in good pressure relief and minimal sagging. Softer beds often sag too much for average weight sleepers, whereas firmer beds may not conform closely enough to reduce pressure points.

Heavyweight Sleepers – More than 230 lbs.

Our heavyweight sleep testers were somewhat mixed in their ratings for the Endy Mattress. Side sleepers weighing more than 230 pounds sank a bit too deeply into the low-density comfort layer, but the mattress still alleviated pressure reasonably well. Back and stomach sleepers in this weight group did not feel as comfortable, and this was largely due to sagging around the lower back and hips.

Heavyweight sleepers often prefer medium-firm to firm mattresses. Softer beds sag too much, and this can affect how supportive the mattress feels. While the Endy Mattress has a medium-firm feel, its low-density comfort layer is more prone to sagging for larger sleepers.

How Does the Endy Mattress Compare to Other Beds?

We encourage all mattress shoppers to compare different brands and models in order to determine which bed is best for them. In this next section, we’ll see how the Endy Mattress compares to similarly constructed models from other brands.

Endy vs. Brunswick

The Brunswick Spring Mattress from GoodMorning.com is a hybrid model made with a Euro-top cover and comfort layers of memory foam, polyfoam, and polyfibers. The support core consists of 8-inch pocketed coils encased in high-density foam, giving the mattress very good edge support.

Both mattresses offer a medium-firm feel best suited for sleepers weighing 130 to 230 pounds. However, the Brunswick Spring Mattress promotes strong airflow through its coil layer, allowing it to maintain a cool, comfortable temperature. The Endy Mattress sleeps much warmer by comparison, but its all-foam design ensures better motion isolation and more pressure relief.

The Endy Mattress and Brunswick Spring Mattress have comparable price-points, though the latter costs slightly less, and both ship exclusively to customers in Canada. Those who like the balance of conforming and responsiveness from an all-foam bed should consider the Endy Mattress, while the Brunswick Spring Mattress is best suited to hot sleepers and shoppers seeking stronger edge support.

Endy vs. Casper

The Casper Mattress is a mixed-foam model with comfort layers of polyfoam and memory foam over a high-density polyfoam base. The mattress conforms a bit closer to sleepers than the Endy Mattress due to its memory foam layer, and also has a softer, medium (5) feel.

The Endy and Casper Mattresses share a few similarities, as well. Both offer excellent motion isolation and do not produce any noise, making either bed suitable for couples. They also alleviate pressure for most sleepers who weigh 230 pounds or less, but may be a bit too soft for heavier individuals. However, the Endy Mattress outperforms the Casper Mattress in terms of edge support. One benefit of the Casper Mattress is temperature neutrality, as this model absorbs less body heat from sleepers than many of its all-foam competitors (including the Endy Mattress).

The Casper costs more than the Endy Mattress, but both beds are affordably priced. Sleepers who enjoy the pressure-relieving body cradle of memory foam will likely prefer the Casper Mattress, whereas those who like a mix of conforming and responsiveness should opt for the Endy Mattress instead.

Endy vs. Douglas

Like the Casper Mattress mentioned above, the Douglas Mattress by GoodMorning.com is a mixed-foam model. The top layer is made of memory foam, so the mattress conforms more closely to sleepers than the all-polyfoam Endy Mattress. This creates a feeling of sleeping “in” – as opposed to “on” – the mattress.

Like the Endy Mattress, the Douglas Mattress is medium-firm and best suited to people who weigh 130 to 230 pounds. However, the Douglas Mattress outperforms the Endy Mattress in terms of pressure relief due to its memory foam layer, which hugs the body closer and reduces more pressure points than polyfoam. The memory foam also absorbs motion and reduces transfer better than the polyfoam found in the Endy Mattress.

The Douglas Mattress costs slightly less than the Endy Mattress, but both models are considered high-value beds. Customers who prefer the body-conforming feel of memory foam will likely find the Douglas Mattress more comfortable, and the Endy Mattress is best suited to those who enjoy a balance of conforming and responsiveness.

Endy vs. Logan & Cove

The Logan & Cove Mattress is a 14-inch hybrid model from GoodMorning.com. The mattress features a wood-derived Tencel cover, along with comfort layers of blended silk, polyfoam, memory foam, and soy-based bio-foam. These innovative materials offer comfortable body-conforming and pressure relief, while 8-inch pocketed coils ensure excellent overall support.

The Logan & Cove Mattress is available in medium-soft and medium-firm designs. This selection accommodates a wider range of body types and sleep positions compared to the Endy Mattress, which is only available with one firmness option.

The Logan & Cove Mattress also provides better temperature neutrality thanks to consistent airflow through its coil layer, as well as added cooling from the silk fiber comfort layer. However, the Endy Mattress isolates motion better than the Logan & Cove Mattress.

The Logan & Cove Mattress is more expensive than the Endy Mattress, though it is also fairly low-priced for a hybrid model. Those who prefer high-profile mattresses with thick foam layers and strong support systems should opt for the Logan & Cove Mattress. For budget-minded shoppers and those who like shorter beds, the Endy Mattress will be the better option.

Endy vs. Novosbed

The Novosbed is built with 4 inches of memory foam over a support core of high-density polyfoam. This mattress is ideal for those who prefer sleeping “in” – and not “on” – their bed, while the Endy Mattress provides a more balanced feeling of both sleeping “on” and sleeping “in.”

Customers can choose from three firmness options for their Novosbed: soft, medium, and medium-firm. This range ensures most sleepers can find a suitable design regardless of their body type, sleep position, or firmness preferences. The Endy Mattress, by comparison, is more limiting for shoppers, but this model offers better edge support. Both beds have also earned similar ratings in some key performance categories, such as motion isolation and pressure relief.

The Novosbed is a bit more expensive but – unlike the Endy Mattress – this model ships to Canada and the United States. For most shoppers, the decision between these two beds should come down to their comfort preferences. Those who like the deep, pressure-relieving cradle of memory foam should choose the Novosbed, while the Endy Mattress is best suited to sleepers who like an all-foam bed that is also fairly responsive.

Endy is a bed-in-a-box mattress brand owned by Sleep Country, Canada’s largest chain of mattress retail stores. The company has been selling its “one-size-fits-all” foam mattress since 2015, competing with other online brands like Casper and Douglas. Endy mattresses are made in Quebec and shipped out from distribution centres in Ontario and British Columbia.

In Summer 2019, Endy Sleep launched the Mira mattress, a value brand sold for $300 less than Endy and with an additional 30 days on its sleep trial. Though new brands tend to leverage the established credibility and market trust of their parent company, neither Endy nor Mira chose to publicly disclose their relationship in the first few months following launch.

Thanks to modern compression methods and the rising popularity of the bed-in-a-box, mattresses can now be shipped far more efficiently and conveniently than ever before. Customers no longer need to take a day off work to accept a delivery. Boxed beds are now delivered with the same convenience as most Amazon orders. Some bed-in-a-box companies even offer same-day delivery to certain areas.

Endy uses UPS to deliver their mattress directly to customers’ doors throughout most parts of Canada. In some cases, the delivery can even be left on a porch or deck while the customer is away from home.Shipping is freefor the majority of Canadians, and Endy customers can expect their new mattress to bedelivered within 10 business days.

Like many bed-in-a-box companies, Endy heavily promotes their sleep trial. This is a period where the buyer can try out the mattress at home for a few months before deciding if they want to keep it or not.At100 nights, this sleep trial is average in length. If you choose to return your Endy mattress during the sleep trial, the company offers free mattress pickup and a full refund upon collection.

It is worth noting thatMattress-Reviews.comdid not complete the return process, but received this information via the ‘Live Chat’ function on Endy’s website.

Endy Mattress: Out of the box

Out of the BoxEndy
Delivered in a box:Yes
Box dimensions:28" x 28" x 42"
Box opening:Required scissors
Box/mattress fitting:Tight
Protection layers:2
Expansion time:2 minutes

The Endy mattress arrived within the expected delivery period. Within the box, the mattress was sealed in heavy-duty plastic to protect the item during shipping.

The Endy mattress box was sealed effectively with heavy-duty tape. Customers will definitely need scissors or a knife to open the box. To prevent potential harm to your new mattress, remember to be extra careful when using sharp objects to remove packaging.

It is also worth noting thattheEndy mattress box has handle cut-outs.This makes it a little easier to move the package; however, these handles are more practical for discarding the empty box than for lifting the full package, which could tear the cardboard if the box is not properly supported elsewhere. This is a welcome feature, nonetheless.

Once opened, the compressed mattress iseasy to remove from the box.We recommend a ‘tip-and-pull’ motion to slowly slide the mattress out from its cardboard container. Simply tip the box from a vertical position down onto its side, and then pull the lightweight box away from the bundled mattress. It’s most efficient to do this process in the room where you intend to set up the bed.

The Endy mattress is protected with two layers of heavy-duty plastic – one to compress it in a vacuum seal, and another to keep it tightly rolled in a cylinder shape.

Customers will need first to unwrap the outermost layer in order to unroll the mattress, which will still be in its compressed form. Some helpful advice at this stage is to place the rolled up mattress onto the designated bed frame. Next, like the end of a roll of tape, find and peel back the outer layer of plastic. You can use the momentum of unrolling the compressed mattress along the bed frame to help remove the rest of this layer, which could be up to a few meters long. After completing this process, the mattress will be lying unrolled before you.

Next, cut the final layer of plastic. The vacuum seal now broken, the Endy mattress will quickly begin to decompress. (It’s normal to hear a bit of air slowly escaping from the vacuum seal ahead of this stage.) Remove this final layer of plastic as the mattress expands to its full height. With the Endy mattress, full expansion took 2 minutes.
