Endy Mattress Review

The Canadian-made Endy mattress is billed simply as the ‘perfect mattress’. Launched in 2014, it has made a name for itself in the USA and Canada by providing an answer to the considerable hassles normally involved in shopping for the right mattress.

Instead of a bewildering array of mattresses to choose from, there is just the one – available in all the sizes you would expect.

This high quality, gel-infused memory foam mattress is available exclusively online. It is delivered to your front door at a lower price than many similar quality mattresses available in the standard bedding retail stores.

But is it worth the money and can you be confident in taking the ‘leap of faith’ required as a buyer to purchase it online without having first tested it out?

We decided to help you make a more informed choice about the mattress you buy. The Endy is far from the only ‘bed in a box’ option on the market, after all. How does it compare with the others?

Following is a comprehensive review that combines our personal experiences of sleeping on the mattress and testing it out, with well-researched third-party information.

This provides an accurate, 360-degree view of the Endy. You decide if it’s for you!

Pricing & Dimensions

Product Overview

What we liked:

  • Free shipping & returns– no hidden delivery fees to inflate the price.
  • 100- day trial period– more peace of mind when purchasing online.
  • Breathability– good airflow, with the gel-infused memory foam providing excellent heat dispersal and coolness throughout the night.
  • Excellent motion transfer– motion transfer was minimal, allowing for a restful sleep even with a restless partner.
  • Charitable endeavours– for every mattress delivered, Endy donates one bed net to Nothing But Nets, a campaign dedicated to fighting malaria in Africa.
  • Good rebound speed– The Endy offers a good rebound speed after pressure is applied, as indicated in our hand pressure test.
  • Canadian-made– made in Toronto using top quality North American materials.

What we didn’t like:

  • One-mattress-fits-all– what you see is what you get! No customizing of preferences.
  • Lack of overall support– there is a definite sinking/plunging feeling in this mattress which may not be to everybody’s liking.
  • Difficulty in switching sleeping positions– because of the ‘sink factor’ propping yourself up to turn over was a struggle.
  • Difficulty in manoeuvring– lack of side straps means that moving it around becomes a little cumbersome.
  • Inability to test before purchase– with one showroom in Toronto, your options to test are very limited.
  • Odour (‘Off-gassing’)– this was noticeable upon initial unwrapping of the mattress (although the smell dissipated after a few days of exposure).
  • No flipping– like most foam mattresses, the Endy cannot be flipped as you would be sleeping on the structural foam.

About the Manufacturer

The Endy Sleep founders released the mattress in 2014 in an effort to bring “simplicity and clarity to mattress buying” and to “make it easy and affordable to get a premium memory foam mattress”.

Concerned by their own experiences while shopping in the big box stores for mattresses, with inflated prices and pushy sales people the norm, the Endy founders opted for a similar purchasing model to other successful online mattress companies.

In the short period that the mattress has been available exclusively online, the company has become the Canada’s leading online mattress store.

Unlike most of the other mattresses on the market, the Endy is designed and crafted locally in Toronto, showcasing Canadian manufacturing and delivering “the kind of mattress experience people dream about.”

With a single showroom in Toronto, there are few opportunities to test the mattress, but you have the peace of mind of the 100-day money-back guarantee and 10-year warranty. It ships to the lower 48 states in the U.S. and the 10 Canadian provinces free of charge.

Why the Name ‘Endy’?

You may be wondering why a mattress is called the ‘Endy’.

Its origin lies in a story of love and sleep. The mattress is named after ‘Endymion’, of ancient Greek folklore. The story goes that he was a dear admirer of the moon goddess, Selene:

“Selene fell in love with her handsome admirer so much that she cast a spell to grant him eternal sleep and preserve his youthful beauty forever.”

How We Put the Mattress to the Test

Few online reviews of the Endy are based on personal experience of sleeping on the mattress and actual, physical tests performed by more than one sleeper.

We performed the same set of tests on the Endy that we carry out on other mattresses reviewed on this site. In this way, we compare ‘like for like’ and you can be sure that you are getting a balanced review and rating, based on actual experience.

Our two ‘Sleep Scouts’ are a 120lb female and a larger 215lb male. They tested the Endy for 30 days and you can read more detail about the tests that they conducted here . For the results of these tests, keep on reading.

The Basics: An Overview

First Observations: The Unpacking Experience

Like all ‘order-online’ mattresses, the Endy arrived compressed in a vacuum-sealed bag. Although the box it is delivered in is much taller and skinnier than some of the other online mattresses we have purchased, the product inside is sealed in essentially the same way.

To help with setting it up, the Endy includes “how-to” instructions and even a handy tool to assist with opening the vacuum-sealed package. However, we only noticed this after the fact (you had one job!), as it was stuck in the bottom of the box! That’s possibly our fault for not checking but, in any case, any knife can help break the seal.

Once the seal has been broken, the mattress starts to take shape immediately and effortlessly. We noticed a little ‘off-gassing’ here. However, it wasn’t overly offensive, and it dissipated as the mattress started to breathe. This is a common attribute of most foam mattresses anyway.

Once removed from its packaging, we noticed that there were no side straps to aid getting the mattress into place on the bed: not an issue for us, with our team of Sleep Scouts, but it would be awkward for a single female or an older person.

Truthfully, we are a little surprised that this seems to be a common feature of mattresses purchased online. At 43 pounds (for the queen size) the Endy is very light compared to the Casper (which weighs in at 88 pounds) but side straps would help with manoeuvring all such mattresses.

What’s in the Box?

The Materials

So what goes into the making of the Endy to provide its so-called “10 inches of sleeping awesomeness”?

There are FOUR key components of this mattress: three layers of polyurethane foam topped off with a mattress cover. Here’s little more detail about each component

  • The Quilted Woven Cover:The soft polyester fabric on the top of the foam layers is quilted, durable, breathable, and hypoallergenic, to encourage comfort and airflow.
  • Layer 1 – Gel-Infused Foam (2 inches):This top layer comprises 2 inches of Visco elastic foam (memory foam) infused with a cooling gel. It provides cool comfort as you sleep and is specifically designed to disperse body heat.
  • Layer 2 – Transition Foam (3 inches):The transition layer allows for a gradual exchange between the body-hugging memory foam and supportive base foam, for optimal comfort and support. It incorporates 3 inches of soft, high-density support foam.
  • Layer 3 – Base Foam (5 inches):At the base of the Endy is a further 5 inches of firm, high-density foam to ensure you stay well-supported and propped up as you sleep.

One of the most common problems with pure memory foam mattresses since they came onto the market is their tendency to ‘sleep hot’. Memory foam is not the best at dispersing body heat.

Some mattresses (like the Casper, for instance) use latex in the upper layer to solve this problem. The Endy’s approach is to infuse the top layer of foam with gel. This cools it down considerably, giving it a key advantage over the pure memory foam mattresses that are so common nowadays.

How Did the Key Features Measure Up?

Endy Sleep promises a mattress that was “engineered to be medium-firm with a responsive, yet conforming and pressure-relieving top layer of memory foam.” Is this true?

Individuals of a small to medium body frame will experience a moderate amount of sink. Those who are looking for average to above-average firmness may be slightly disappointed by the generous sinkage offered by the Endy.

Heavier individuals accustomed to traditional spring mattresses may also find the sink of the Endy to be rather extreme. At 215 lbs, our male ‘sleep scout’ experienced a noticeable sink that was unpleasant and uncomfortable.

Despite the company’s claims that its mattress is suited for individuals under 250 lbs and with a combined weight of 500 lbs, we feel that this mattress fails to deliver on its promise of ‘medium-firm support’ and, instead, offers ‘soft-medium’ support at best.

The information below details the results of the tests we performed for sinkage, using our 25 lb kettlebell test on three different parts of the mattress.

  • Corner: 4.25” Sinkage:evidence of substantial sinkage for a mattress claiming to be of medium-firm sink and bounce.
  • Middle-top: 4” Sinkage:again, considerable sinkage for a mattress claiming medium-firm sink and bounce.
  • Middle: 4” Sinkage:once again, more sinkage than would normally be expected for a mattress claiming medium-firm sink and bounce .

Our summary of the kettlebell tests result in an overall firmness level of 5/10, despite the company’s claim of it being ‘medium-firm’.

The Endy is therefore suitable choice for individuals who prefer a more pillowy or plush sleep, but not those requiring a little more in the way of firm support from their mattress.

Summary for Different Sleeping positions

  • Back Sleeping:the Endy mattress is a soft/plush to and is best suited for a back sleeper who prefers a mattress that contours to their body.
  • Side Sleeping:due to the overall softness and plushness of this mattress, the Endy is best suited to this sleeping position, as it provides good body-conforming comfort.
  • Stomach Sleeping:stomach sleepers typically opt for a firmer mattress. However, we found the Endy to be comfortable in the stomach sleeping position.
  • Sitting:the lack of edge support makes sitting on the Endy a bit awkward. When sitting, the Endy suffers from the black hole effect, where you feel as though you’re sinking too deeply into the mattress.

The quickest way to ruin a good night sleep is by being too hot. Breathability in any mattress is key and the top layer of gel-infused memory in the Endy helps it to absorb and disperse body heat, thereby preventing hot spots as you sleep.

We found the manufacturer’s claims in this respect to be true and on a par with other mattresses like the Casper in terms of coolness and airflow distribution.

Motion Transfer

We found no motion transfer with the Endy. It absorbed all types of movement really well, including getting in and out of bed. This makes the mattress suitable for couples, especially where one partner sleeps more restlessly than the other.

As always with mattresses, this is a tough one to assess.

Given that the standard life expectancy of a mattress is 5-10 years and our timeframe to test was only 30 days before publishing our review, we are only looking at a short snapshot in the grand scheme of the overall mattress life.

To complicate matters further, the company has only been in business for a couple of years, so history on the durability of the mattress is limited, at best.

What we do know is that the quality of materials used in its manufacture is high. However, it should also be pointed out that foam mattresses are somewhat notorious for being less durable than their spring counterparts.

This concern is, perhaps, exacerbated by the fact that the mattress is designed with a defined topside and underside, with no possibility of flipping. Endy Sleep does, however, advise rotating the mattress 180 degrees every six months.

Most major concerns are alleviated by the fact that Endy insists that the mattress is designed to withstand years without deformation and, in the unlikely event of sagging, it is covered by their 10-year limited warranty.

Time will tell, but our initial experience is that the company is true to its word with most of its claims, and the high quality materials, the sound warranty, and returns policy should ease your mind.

Edge Support

One clear weakness with the Endy is the lack of edge support. A standard spring mattress is usually well supported, allowing you to sit on the edge easily. As evidenced in our kettlebell test detailed earlier, the edges are structurally weak and it’s easy to see someone rolling out of the bed.

While the Endy is by no means alone in this respect amongst foam mattresses, it might be an important consideration for some people or prompt them to buy a mattress one size larger than they were originally planning for.

The Sleep Scouts’ Standout Feature

Plush body-conforming hug with coolness and breathability

The standout feature of the Endy mattress has to be its plush, pillowy, body-contouring comfort, while also offering a cool night’s sleep.

At its affordable price-point, a soft mattress that conforms well to the body’s curves is attractive to many. Probably best suited for side sleepers, due to its below-average firmness, it offers a very pleasant ‘hug’ while the gel-infused memory foam in the upper layer disperses body heat beautifully.

It’s important to note that if you prefer a mattress with medium-firm support features, the Endy may be lower on your mattress shopping list. Plenty of other mattresses can offer more firmness and support.

Social Good

It is always refreshing when you find a company that pays it forward. We know that many readers like to feel that they are contributing to good causes with the purchases they make and it seems that Endy know that too.

The company has partnered withNothing But Nets: a campaign dedicated to fighting the spread of Malaria in Africa. With every mattress delivered, Endy donates one bed net to help the cause.

The Endy mattress is covered by a 10-year limited warranty.

This applies to standard defects and deterioration that are not the result of improper use or handling.

What the Warranty Covers:

  1. Degradation, which causes the mattress to have a visible indentation greater than one (1) inch, not associated with an improper foundation.
  2. Any physical flaw in the mattress that causes foam material to split or crack, despite normal usage and proper handling.
  3. Any defect or flaw in the zipper assembly of the mattress cover. Endy may decide to repair or replace the cover provided on the mattress.

What the Warranty Does Not Cover:

  1. A normal increase in softness of the foam after long-term use.
  2. Comfort preference or mattress height preference.
  3. Any stains, burns, tears, cuts, or liquid damage resulting from use by customer.
  4. Damage due to use with an inappropriate foundation such as any slats or foundation with greater than two (2) inches between slats or support beams.
  5. Damage incurred by transportation after initial delivery.
  6. Product that is sold by an unauthorized retailer or product that is any way sold as “used” or any other similar wording indicating the product is not “new”.

Returns Policy

The Endy mattress offers a 100-day trial period to test it out, which makes it just about as risk-free as you can get with mattresses.

It’s worth bearing in mind that, if the company was getting many returns, it’s unlikely they’d be able to afford to offer this warranty – which is a sure sign that most people are happy (reading between the lines).

If, however, you decided that the Endy mattress is not what you were expecting after trialling it for up to 100 nights, you can claim a full refund and the company will make arrangements to collect the mattress from your home.

Bottom Line: Who Should Buy This Mattress?

The Endy mattress is ideal for someone looking to spend under $850 on a quality mattress that is on the softer, plusher side of the firmness scale.

It delivers a cool, body-conforming sleep that is suitable for people of most body weights between 120 and 215 lbs, although it might be better suited to those individuals who favour sleeping on their sides than on their back or stomachs (especially for heavier individuals).

The no-hassle purchasing process, great returns policy, and 100-day trial period mean that you can acquire this mattress with the peace of mind that if you have chosen the wrong mattress, you will not lose anything.

This, together with the Endy’s attractive price point, does indeed make it easy and affordable for many people to have a premium quality foam mattress, as per the company vision. However, if you are expecting a medium-firm mattress, you may feel short-changed.

For those who enjoy the soft, luxurious hug of body-contouring memory foam, and especially those who enjoy sleeping on their side, it’s safe to say that you should love the Endy.

Endy Mattress Canada Overview

What makes Endy one of the best when it comes to manufacturing mattresses is their promise to provide products that are specially made for their fellow Canadians. Every foam mattress was built to offer excellent comfort under the Canadian weather.

Since 2015, Endy has created thousands of mattresses and delivered them all around Canada. Up to this date, more than 100, 000 Canadian are sleeping quietly and comfortably on an Endy mattress. This is one of the company’s milestones that made them proud.

When Endy started its business, the company only offered foamed mattresses to the Canadian market. But after a few years, they have expanded their business and started to offer other products such as sheets, pillows, duvet and duvet cover, foam mattress protectors, and the most recent one which is the Endy bed frame.

The Endy continues to innovate and improve their products for the advantage of every Canadian who trusts their works.

What is an Endy Mattress Made of?

When we talk about Endy mattress, we are referring to an all-polyfoam bed. It has 3 layers which include a medium-density comfort part, a high-density transitional, and support layers. Endy bed also comes with a removable and machine-washable cover that is made from a stretch polyester material. This 10 inches thick mattress is a must for every home in Canada.

T he cover of an Endy mattress was made from 97% polyester and 3% spandex. The fabric used offers soft and stretchy feels. Every Endy cover can be unzipped and removed from the mattress if cleaning is required. When the cover gets stained, the recommended way is to clean the spot using water and a mild detergent. You can also use a washing machine to remove the stain using warm water and allow it to air-dry.

    Comfort Layer

This a 2-inch comfort layer and is made up of open-cell Endy foam with a medium-firm feel. Compared to memory foam, this is more responsive which gives every surface a light bounce. The material of this part aimed to provide contouring and pressure relief while keeping a neutral temperature.

    Transitional Layer

This 3-inch transitional part can be found below the comfort part. It acts as a buffer for every sleeper and it prevents sinking too deep into the mattress and getting contact with the support core.

    Support Layer

With Endy mattress, you must expect a 5-inch poly foam support part. Though the density of the support part is the same with the density of the transitional part (1.8 PCF), it was designed to become firmer and less susceptible to sagging.

How Firm Is the Endy Mattress?

With the use of a firmness comfort scale, Endy bed has scored between 4.5 – 5. Let’s assume that 1 is like a marshmallow-soft, while 10 is firm as the brick, the mattress score will show that it is medium to medium-soft for the majority of the users.

Aside from experiencing the soft and cozy feeling, the cover also breathable which means it can allow the airflow to reach the sleeper. Anyone would sink slightly in the comfort of all-foam mattress and feel the lumbar supporting contour.

One of the best things about mattress Endy is the combination of soft and firm feeling that everyone will experience while using it. You can feel the softness due to the sinking capacity of the bed, but it can reshape easily as soon as you remove your body as you sleep. This is way better compared to classic one. With a new Endy foam, any sleeper can experience moving freely without getting confined in a moderate cradle.

Benefits of Endy Mattress

Here are some of the tops benefits of mattress Endy that you would love to know before you bring yourself to sleep tonight:

  1. The Endy comfort layer can distribute your body’s pressure points which can reduce turning and tossing. With this, you can feel more relaxed as you rest your body at night.
  2. The mattresses reduce the motion transfer between you and your partner so you can have an undisturbed rest and sleep at night. This will also allow you to rejuvenate deeply.
  3. The Endy comfort foams can support the body’s unique needs faster and better than the other foamed mattresses in the market. You can sleep without any trouble, rest your body and mind longer, and face a new day full of power.
  4. The mattresses’ design comes with a foam that holds and releases heat faster than any traditional memory foams. It creates a cooler environment for you and your partner as you sleep, giving you the interrupted and restorative rest that you would wish to have.
  5. The Endy comfort foams help with pressure relief using the open cell structure and the limited temperature sensitivity.
  6. The Endy proprietary foams can allow the air to pass through and move between cells through its open-air cell structure.

Douglas Mattress

The Douglas mattress was introduced by a Canadian bed-in-a-box company,, last 2017. This product is only available in Canada and was made as a single-firmness mattress. The mattress design uses an eight-year worth of customer feedback and engineering data. Though Douglas was designed as a value-packed Canadian mattress, offers the same quality of customer service with the rest of their growing catalog. The company is also known as a provider of industry-leading sleep trial and warranty.

The Douglas mattress also has three layers of foams which are the following:

  • 2-inch of ecoLight cooling gel foam – this is the first part of Douglas mattress and the main function of this part is to prevent the heat from getting trapped in the mattress. The cooling gel can give you a restful sleep throughout the night. Just like memory foams, this ecoLight foam is durable, responsive, and comfortable. But it has an added feature which is a low carbon footprint.
  • 2-inch of Elastex foam – this is the second layer of the Douglas mattress and it was designed to provide support and spring. This is the reason why many mattresses found in the Canadian market are using latex.
  • 6-inch Motion Isolation Support Foam – this is the third and last layer of Douglas mattress and this thick layer can reduce the transfer of motion transfer between the sleepers. Another thing that this layer does is enhancing the edge support of the mattress.

The Brunswick mattress was also introduced by during the year 2018. This is a classic spring mattress that was designed for modern Canadians. The mattress builds, design, and comfort are refreshingly familiar and simple while adding some of the best innovations when it comes to the modern mattress making such as zoned pocketed springs and hemp-based fabric. You can buy this spring-foam hybrid online and your order will be delivered into your doorstep in a compressed box.

Unlike the Douglas mattress, the Brunswick mattress has 5 layers and comes with a few transition materials. Each layer found in the Brunswick mattress was designed carefully to provide an excellent level of support and comfort.

  • 0.25-inch of Holofibre fill – this is the first layer of Brunswick mattress. This is a lightweight and fluffy material that will fill the cover’s tufting and provide the Brunswick mattress an initial softness and distinct shape.
  • 0.75-inch of Super-Soft Gel Foam – this is the second layer of the mattress and this foam is known because of its softness which contributes to the comfort you feel as you lie your body on the mattress.
  • 1-inch of Cooling Gel Memory Foam – this third layer is working with the surrounding Endy foam so you can feel the comfort and the heat regulation.
  • 1-inch of High-density Zoned Eco-Foam – this layer is responsible for providing body contouring and pressure relief in the knees, hips, elbows, shoulders, and neck.
  • 8-inch of Multi-tempered Pocketed Springs with a 3-inch Foam Encasement Perimeter – this layer comes with individually wrapped springs and it contributes to the medium firmness of the mattress. It also helps with the level of support and the overall integrity of Brunswick.

Douglas mattress vs Endy Mattress

What’s similar?

Maybe you have asked about this one since we are talking about mattress reviews of Douglas mattress and Endy mattress. These two mattresses have common important features. Let’s look at these similarities and shared features before we discuss their unique features.

  • All-Foam Mattress – the Douglas and Endy both have 3 different layers that have their respective functions. To provide shape and stability, both mattresses are using HD polyfoam found in the base. The nearest layer from the sleepers is helping the mattress to sleep cool.
  • Initial feel – the Douglas and Endy can make you feel like a cloudy soft landing during your first contact with the bed. They both come with memory foams and this functions as a contour your body. Both mattresses can give you pressure relief with your sensitive areas in the body.
  • Price range – the retail price for both Douglas and Endy may be quite similar which is between $600 to $800. You can also watch out for some sales so you can save a few dollars from the products’ regular price.

What’s the difference?

Since these mattresses were manufactured by different companies, it’s very common to see the difference between Douglas and the Endy. To provide more detailed information about the two mattresses, here’s a quick overview of the construction of each bed:

  • Cover – the cover was made from an all-natural Tencel blend and it’s completely breathable and soft.
  • Comfort – while moving below the cover, the gel memory foam of Douglas offers a comfortable layer. Any sleeper can enjoy the sink comfortably without getting the feel of overheating.
  • Transition – this can be found below the gel foam memory and still feels so, but a little sturdier. An alternative to latex that provides mobility and support at the same time. With this transition layer, you can feel a cooler bed.
  • Base – the 6 inches HD polyfoam provides framing to Douglas and it is preventing sleepers from sinking too far into the transition layers and comfort.

For those who are looking for a softer mattress while they sleep, the Douglas mattress is a great choice. It can provide pressure relief to side sleepers since Douglas can shape itself according to the sleeper’s body.

  • Cover – Endy cover comes with a flexible poly knit mix which inspiration drives from the stretchy nature of athletic clothing.
  • Comfort Layer – the next layer which is the open-cell memory foam provides a great mix of pressure relief and support. The memory foam’s open-cell modification prevents the mattress from getting overheat.
  • Transition – to keep sleepers from sinking too far while laying in the mattress, Endy has a slightly firmer polyfoam layer which is found beneath the memory foam. You can enjoy the full-body support that goes together with the comforting relief of the memory foam layer.
  • Base – the HD polyfoam that can be found at the base of the mattress is where Endy’s core foundation is.

For many sleepers who have experienced the comfort and support of mattress Endy, they enjoy the balance of support and pressure relief every day. Although Endy may feel slightly firmer compared to a Douglas mattress, it is not a bed that will jams up the shoulders and hips immediately.

Douglas mattress and Endy mattress are both medium-firm and its best for sleepers who weigh between 130 to 230 pounds. But in terms of pressure relief because of its memory foam layer, Douglas mattress outperforms the Endy mattress. With Douglas, any sleeper can feel the closer hug of the new Endy foam and promotes pressure relief. You can also sleep better since the Douglas memory foams can absorb more motion and reduce the motion transfer between sleepers.

While Douglas mattress is a little cheaper when it comes to the cost compared to Endy mattress, they are both high-value beds. Those customers who want a body-conforming feel with their memory foam would go for a Douglas mattress. But for those who want to enjoy the balance of responsiveness and conforming, they prefer an Endy mattress.

After determining the similarities and differences between Douglas mattress and Endy mattress, we can say that Douglas is best for side sleepers. The product’s surprising features will be loved by every couple as well – the good edge support and motion isolation.

On the other hand, because of the slightly firmer profile of an Endy mattress, a strict back sleeper will prefer the product. For those combo sleepers (side sleepers, stomach sleepers, back sleepers), they’ll love to experience the balance between pressure relief and support that Endy can give in any position.

Endy VS Brunswick

The Brunswick Spring Mattress is another product from and it is considered to be a hybrid model because of its materials. This mattress is made from the Euro-top cover with a comfort layer of memory foam, poly fibers, and polyfoam. To give the mattress excellent edge support, the support core comes with an 8-inch pocketed coils that are encased in high-density foams.

Endy and Brunswick offer a medium-firm feel that is best for sleepers who weigh between 130 to 230 pounds. But Brunswick has a strong airflow because of its coil layer. With this, you can guarantee that coolness and comfort are maintained. On the other hand, though Endy provides a warmer sleep compared to Brunswick, it can offer more pressure relief and better motion isolation due to its all-foam design.

When it comes to the cost, Endy Mattress and Brunswick Spring Mattress have similar price-points and both products can be shipped to any customers in Canada for free. If you are thinking about responsiveness and balance of conforming for your all-foam bed, you should go for Endy. While those who are hot sleepers and looking for stronger edge support, the Brunswick Spring Mattress is the most recommended type.

These two successful mattress brands in Canada share many similarities. Sleep Country which owns Endy and which owns Douglas and Brunswick are all established. They also offer free shipping and free returns for every homeowner in Canada. With these special offers, customers are free to experience the luxury of the mattress inside the comfort of their homes.

Every brand has its advantages that you must know. With Endy, you can enjoy a mattress that has been engineered and offered to an established market for more than four years. Sleep Country, the parent company of Endy, has been a partner of many social media influencers and it had drawn advertising strengths since it started the business. You can choose to go to an Endy local reseller or visit an Endy store so you can try the mattress. You can skip the worry of how to clean a filthy cover because you can easily remove it from the bed and clean it using your washing machine at home.

While Brunswick is offered in the market at a slightly lower price. You can enjoy a longer warranty and a sleep trial. The bounce rating and edge support of Brunswick are proven to be higher than an Endy mattress and these are two of the top considerations of those heavy sleepers who need more support with their new bed. Another advantage of Brunswick hybrid bed from Endy mattress is the zoned lower back support that can be found in the center of the bed.

Recommended for.

  • Sleepers who prefer a balance of body-conforming and responsiveness. The Endy Mattress contours somewhat to the body in order to alleviate pressure, but the polyfoam is a bit bouncier and more responsive than memory foam. This creates a feeling of both sleeping “on” and sleeping “in” the mattress.
  • People who weigh 230 pounds or less. After testing the Endy Mattress, we found this model is best suited to sleepers in the lightweight and average weight groups.
  • Couples.Like other all-foam beds, the Endy Mattress reduces disruptions for co-sleepers by isolating motion very well and not producing any noise.
  • Value seekers.Compared to the average mattress, the Endy Mattress has a very low price-point.

Not Recommended for.

  • Sleepers who prefer close body-conforming.The mattress conforms to a noticeable degree, but it does not provide the same pressure-relieving body cradle as memory foam.
  • Hot sleepers. The bed’s foam layers absorb a fair amount of body heat from sleepers, and may feel excessively warm as a result.

How Is the Endy Mattress Constructed?

The Endy Mattress has a cover made of 97 percent polyester and 3 percent spandex. The fabric has an exceptionally soft and stretchy feel.

The cover can be unzipped and removed from the mattress for cleaning. If staining occurs, Endy recommends either spot-cleaning with mild detergent and water, or machine-washing the cover in warm water and allowing it to air-dry.

Comfort Layers

The Endy Mattress has a 2-inch comfort layer made of open-cell polyfoam with a medium-firm feel. The foam is also somewhat responsive compared to memory foam, giving the surface a light bounce. Due to its lower density (3 PCF), the material is fairly breathable but also susceptible to early wear and tear.

Transitional Layer

A 3-inch transitional layer of high-density (1.8 PCF) polyfoam rests beneath the comfort layer. Acting as a buffer for sleepers, this material prevents them from sinking too deeply into the mattress and coming into contact with the support core.

Support Layers

The Endy Mattress has a 5-inch polyfoam support core. The bed’s support foam has the same density as the transitional layer (1.8 PCF), but it feels firmer and is less susceptible to sagging. The support core stabilizes the entire bed in order to keep sleepers on an even plane.

Mattress Height

The Endy Mattress measures 10 inches thick, making it a medium-profile model. The bed mostly consists of high-density polyfoam, and sacrifices comfort layer space in order to provide more stability for sleepers. As a result, the mattress feels fairly firm and supportive, and does not conform to the body very closely.

What Are the Firmness and Feel Like?

The Endy Mattress has a medium-firm feel. Sleepers experience some body-conforming, but the polyfoam does not mold closely to the sleeper like memory foam. The thick transitional and base layers of high-density polyfoam ensure even support and minimal sagging for most sleepers who weigh 230 pounds or less.

The mattress – like other all-polyfoam beds – is also fairly responsive. This creates a balanced feeling of both sleeping “on” and sleeping “in” the mattress.

Ratings Breakdown

Performance Ratings

Next, let’s take a closer look at our performance ratings for the Endy Mattress. Each rating is based on findings from our internal and external testing teams, along with experiences from verified Endy owners.

The Endy Mattress has been available to the public since 2015. We have not had enough time to evaluate this model across the average mattress lifespan of six to eight years. Therefore, our durability rating is based on the bed’s quality of materials and construction, owner experiences, and Endy’s overall reputation.

We estimate the Endy Mattress will perform for about six to six and a half years before a replacement is needed. This expected lifespan is on par with the average all-polyfoam model, but slightly shorter than the average lifespan for all mattress types. Thick transitional and base layers of high-density polyfoam should prevent heavy sagging over time.

However, the mattress is susceptible to deep sinkage along the edges where people sit when getting in and out of bed. Additionally, the low-density comfort layer will likely begin to deteriorate before the other components, and this may cause body impressions to form on the surface.

In order to minimize these impressions, we recommend rotating the Endy Mattress head-to-foot every three to six months.

Motion Isolation

To evaluate the Endy Mattress for motion isolation, we asked two testers to lie side-by-side on the bed. One tester moved around while the other felt for motion transferring across the surface. During this test, the Endy Mattress exhibited excellent motion isolation. The polyfoam absorbed movement exceptionally well, and neither tester felt any transfer on the surface.

All-foam beds like the Endy Mattress often excel at motion isolation. Other mattress types – such as latex, innerspring, and hybrid – have components that make their surfaces feel much more responsive, and this can lead to more motion transfer (and sleep disruptions) for co-sleepers.

Our testers noticed some off-gassing odor when unboxing the Endy Mattress. However, these smells had mostly dissipated when they re-evaluated the mattress a few days later. Very few owners report bothersome smells after the first few days, as well.

New all-foam mattresses tend to produce the most odor because they emit volatile organic compounds (VOCs), relatively harmless particles that carry a distinct chemical smell. That said, most lose their odor within one week or less, and most models are not associated with long-term smells.

Pressure Relief

To evaluate the Endy Mattress for pressure relief, our testers took turns lying on a sensory pad that tracks pressure build-up in the shoulders, hips, and other sensitive areas. The testers also switched positions to see if the pressure increased or decreased when lying on their sides, back, or stomach.

Throughout these tests, the Endy Mattress demonstrated very good pressure relief for sleepers weighing 230 pounds or less. The comfort layer conforms closely enough to align the spine and reduce pressure for side sleepers without sacrificing even support for back and stomach sleepers. That said, heavier individuals may sink a bit too deeply into the mattress and experience added pressure as a result.

Temperature Neutrality

The Endy Mattress has a comfort layer of low-density, open-cell polyfoam. This material is fairly breathable compared to higher-density foams, particularly memory foam. However, the bed still absorbs a fair amount of body heat from sleepers due to its all-foam construction. This may cause some sleepers to feel uncomfortably warm, especially if they naturally run hot.

Many all-foam mattresses tend to sleep hot. Their solid foam components do not circulate air very well, causing the comfort layers to trap heat. Beds with more breathable materials, such as ventilated latex or open coil systems, usually sleep much cooler by comparison.

Edge Support

To evaluate the Endy Mattress for edge support, our testers sat along the perimeter as an owner might do when getting in and out of bed. All of our testers noticed some sinkage when seated on the edges, indicating minimal support from the transitional and base layers, but the mattress performed better in this category than many of its all-foam competitors.

The testers also took turns lying near the edges of the mattress to check for feelings of “roll-off.” Sinkage was also an issue during this test, particularly when the testers changed sleep positions, but overall they felt relatively stable.

All-foam mattresses generally offer minimal edge support because polyfoam – even with a high-density – does not withstand compression very well. Most hybrid and innerspring models offer better perimeter reinforcement due to their thick coil systems.

During our tests, we noticed the Endy Mattress is virtually silent when bearing weight. This is a common attribute of all-foam beds. Other mattress types produce more noise due to certain internal components, such as the coils found in innersprings and hybrids, or the motorized air chambers found in airbeds.

Because the mattress isolates motion very well and does not make any noise, we recommend this model to anyone who experiences disruptions due to their co-sleeper’s movements during the night.

The Endy Mattress has some responsiveness, but it lacks the bounciness of hybrids and innersprings. Couples may not find the mattress springy enough for sex. Additionally, the limited edge support prevents couples from using the entire surface of the mattress.

Sleeper Ratings

The ideal firmness and thickness for a mattress largely depend on a sleeper’s body weight, shape, and preferred sleep position. In order to better inform our readers and avoid subjectivity in our review, the Tuck team evaluated the bed with sleep testers of varying body types and position preferences.

Lightweight Sleepers – Less than 130 lbs.

Our lightweight sleep testers awarded positive ratings to the Endy Mattress. Side sleepers found the mattress a bit on the firm side, but the low-density comfort layer offered adequate padding while the transitional and support layers kept their bodies on an even plane. For back and stomach sleepers in this weight group, the mattress offered a good balance of conforming and support – but again, the mattress was a little too firm for their liking.

Lightweight sleepers usually prefer mattresses with soft to medium-soft feels. These beds conform closely enough to cradle the sleeper, align the spine, and alleviate pressure points throughout their body. Firmer beds tend to conform less, and sleepers weighing less than 130 pounds do not experience as much pressure relief as they might on a softer mattress.

Average Weight Sleepers – 130 to 230 lbs.

The best ratings for the Endy Mattress came from our side sleepers in the average weight group. They felt very comfortable thanks to the bed’s medium-firm feel and ample cushioning from the low-density comfort layer. Back and stomach sleepers weighing 130 to 230 pounds also liked the mattress, though they noted some sagging around the midsection.

For most average weight sleepers, the ideal mattress falls between medium-soft and medium-firm. These beds provide a balance of body-contouring and even support, resulting in good pressure relief and minimal sagging. Softer beds often sag too much for average weight sleepers, whereas firmer beds may not conform closely enough to reduce pressure points.

Heavyweight Sleepers – More than 230 lbs.

Our heavyweight sleep testers were somewhat mixed in their ratings for the Endy Mattress. Side sleepers weighing more than 230 pounds sank a bit too deeply into the low-density comfort layer, but the mattress still alleviated pressure reasonably well. Back and stomach sleepers in this weight group did not feel as comfortable, and this was largely due to sagging around the lower back and hips.

Heavyweight sleepers often prefer medium-firm to firm mattresses. Softer beds sag too much, and this can affect how supportive the mattress feels. While the Endy Mattress has a medium-firm feel, its low-density comfort layer is more prone to sagging for larger sleepers.

How Does the Endy Mattress Compare to Other Beds?

We encourage all mattress shoppers to compare different brands and models in order to determine which bed is best for them. In this next section, we’ll see how the Endy Mattress compares to similarly constructed models from other brands.

Endy vs. Brunswick

The Brunswick Spring Mattress from is a hybrid model made with a Euro-top cover and comfort layers of memory foam, polyfoam, and polyfibers. The support core consists of 8-inch pocketed coils encased in high-density foam, giving the mattress very good edge support.

Both mattresses offer a medium-firm feel best suited for sleepers weighing 130 to 230 pounds. However, the Brunswick Spring Mattress promotes strong airflow through its coil layer, allowing it to maintain a cool, comfortable temperature. The Endy Mattress sleeps much warmer by comparison, but its all-foam design ensures better motion isolation and more pressure relief.

The Endy Mattress and Brunswick Spring Mattress have comparable price-points, though the latter costs slightly less, and both ship exclusively to customers in Canada. Those who like the balance of conforming and responsiveness from an all-foam bed should consider the Endy Mattress, while the Brunswick Spring Mattress is best suited to hot sleepers and shoppers seeking stronger edge support.

Endy vs. Casper

The Casper Mattress is a mixed-foam model with comfort layers of polyfoam and memory foam over a high-density polyfoam base. The mattress conforms a bit closer to sleepers than the Endy Mattress due to its memory foam layer, and also has a softer, medium (5) feel.

The Endy and Casper Mattresses share a few similarities, as well. Both offer excellent motion isolation and do not produce any noise, making either bed suitable for couples. They also alleviate pressure for most sleepers who weigh 230 pounds or less, but may be a bit too soft for heavier individuals. However, the Endy Mattress outperforms the Casper Mattress in terms of edge support. One benefit of the Casper Mattress is temperature neutrality, as this model absorbs less body heat from sleepers than many of its all-foam competitors (including the Endy Mattress).

The Casper costs more than the Endy Mattress, but both beds are affordably priced. Sleepers who enjoy the pressure-relieving body cradle of memory foam will likely prefer the Casper Mattress, whereas those who like a mix of conforming and responsiveness should opt for the Endy Mattress instead.

Endy vs. Douglas

Like the Casper Mattress mentioned above, the Douglas Mattress by is a mixed-foam model. The top layer is made of memory foam, so the mattress conforms more closely to sleepers than the all-polyfoam Endy Mattress. This creates a feeling of sleeping “in” – as opposed to “on” – the mattress.

Like the Endy Mattress, the Douglas Mattress is medium-firm and best suited to people who weigh 130 to 230 pounds. However, the Douglas Mattress outperforms the Endy Mattress in terms of pressure relief due to its memory foam layer, which hugs the body closer and reduces more pressure points than polyfoam. The memory foam also absorbs motion and reduces transfer better than the polyfoam found in the Endy Mattress.

The Douglas Mattress costs slightly less than the Endy Mattress, but both models are considered high-value beds. Customers who prefer the body-conforming feel of memory foam will likely find the Douglas Mattress more comfortable, and the Endy Mattress is best suited to those who enjoy a balance of conforming and responsiveness.

Endy vs. Logan & Cove

The Logan & Cove Mattress is a 14-inch hybrid model from The mattress features a wood-derived Tencel cover, along with comfort layers of blended silk, polyfoam, memory foam, and soy-based bio-foam. These innovative materials offer comfortable body-conforming and pressure relief, while 8-inch pocketed coils ensure excellent overall support.

The Logan & Cove Mattress is available in medium-soft and medium-firm designs. This selection accommodates a wider range of body types and sleep positions compared to the Endy Mattress, which is only available with one firmness option.

The Logan & Cove Mattress also provides better temperature neutrality thanks to consistent airflow through its coil layer, as well as added cooling from the silk fiber comfort layer. However, the Endy Mattress isolates motion better than the Logan & Cove Mattress.

The Logan & Cove Mattress is more expensive than the Endy Mattress, though it is also fairly low-priced for a hybrid model. Those who prefer high-profile mattresses with thick foam layers and strong support systems should opt for the Logan & Cove Mattress. For budget-minded shoppers and those who like shorter beds, the Endy Mattress will be the better option.

Endy vs. Novosbed

The Novosbed is built with 4 inches of memory foam over a support core of high-density polyfoam. This mattress is ideal for those who prefer sleeping “in” – and not “on” – their bed, while the Endy Mattress provides a more balanced feeling of both sleeping “on” and sleeping “in.”

Customers can choose from three firmness options for their Novosbed: soft, medium, and medium-firm. This range ensures most sleepers can find a suitable design regardless of their body type, sleep position, or firmness preferences. The Endy Mattress, by comparison, is more limiting for shoppers, but this model offers better edge support. Both beds have also earned similar ratings in some key performance categories, such as motion isolation and pressure relief.

The Novosbed is a bit more expensive but – unlike the Endy Mattress – this model ships to Canada and the United States. For most shoppers, the decision between these two beds should come down to their comfort preferences. Those who like the deep, pressure-relieving cradle of memory foam should choose the Novosbed, while the Endy Mattress is best suited to sleepers who like an all-foam bed that is also fairly responsive.

Endy is a bed-in-a-box mattress brand owned by Sleep Country, Canada’s largest chain of mattress retail stores. The company has been selling its “one-size-fits-all” foam mattress since 2015, competing with other online brands like Casper and Douglas. Endy mattresses are made in Quebec and shipped out from distribution centres in Ontario and British Columbia.

In Summer 2019, Endy Sleep launched the Mira mattress, a value brand sold for $300 less than Endy and with an additional 30 days on its sleep trial. Though new brands tend to leverage the established credibility and market trust of their parent company, neither Endy nor Mira chose to publicly disclose their relationship in the first few months following launch.

The Endy mattress arrived within the expected delivery period. Within the box, the mattress was sealed in heavy-duty plastic to protect the item during shipping.

The Endy mattress box was sealed effectively with heavy-duty tape. Customers will definitely need scissors or a knife to open the box. To prevent potential harm to your new mattress, remember to be extra careful when using sharp objects to remove packaging.

It is also worth noting thattheEndy mattress box has handle cut-outs.This makes it a little easier to move the package; however, these handles are more practical for discarding the empty box than for lifting the full package, which could tear the cardboard if the box is not properly supported elsewhere. This is a welcome feature, nonetheless.

Once opened, the compressed mattress iseasy to remove from the box.We recommend a ‘tip-and-pull’ motion to slowly slide the mattress out from its cardboard container. Simply tip the box from a vertical position down onto its side, and then pull the lightweight box away from the bundled mattress. It’s most efficient to do this process in the room where you intend to set up the bed.

The Endy mattress is protected with two layers of heavy-duty plastic – one to compress it in a vacuum seal, and another to keep it tightly rolled in a cylinder shape.

Customers will need first to unwrap the outermost layer in order to unroll the mattress, which will still be in its compressed form. Some helpful advice at this stage is to place the rolled up mattress onto the designated bed frame. Next, like the end of a roll of tape, find and peel back the outer layer of plastic. You can use the momentum of unrolling the compressed mattress along the bed frame to help remove the rest of this layer, which could be up to a few meters long. After completing this process, the mattress will be lying unrolled before you.

Next, cut the final layer of plastic. The vacuum seal now broken, the Endy mattress will quickly begin to decompress. (It’s normal to hear a bit of air slowly escaping from the vacuum seal ahead of this stage.) Remove this final layer of plastic as the mattress expands to its full height. With the Endy mattress, full expansion took 2 minutes.

When can I sleep on my new Endy Mattress?

Once you’ve unboxed your Endy Mattress and removed the plastic wrapping, it will immediately expand to its full size in the space of a few seconds. If the mood strikes, hop on and take a nap right away; while the core of the mattress will take a couple of days to stabilize, using it right away won’t cause any damage. Now makes sure you’re set up with the best foundation for your new mattress.

Your Endy Mattress will reach its full firmness within 48-72 hours, and maintain its integrity for the life of the mattress. And that’s it! Happy sleep for the next 10 years!
